A pit crew member, a male human, was part of Captain Elk's crew on an Imperial Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser, which was a component of the Segra-Milo Imperial patrol. In 5 BBY, their cruiser encountered Luthen Rael's Fondor Haulcraft. Rael, a rebel, gave a fake transponder ID, which Elk instructed the crew member to verify.
Though the crew member reported the ID was valid, Elk still ordered the Fondor Haulcraft to be boarded. Rael then started his engines, causing Elk to order the crew member to boost the tractor beam's power. However, Rael destroyed the ship's forward tractor emitter, causing the beam to fail, and he escaped the Imperials.

During the time of the Imperial Era, a male human worked as a member of the pit crew on the bridge of a Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser within the Galactic Empire's Segra-Milo Imperial patrol. Captain Elk commanded the cruiser, and their mission was to patrol the space surrounding the planet of Segra Milo, an area known for piracy and reported Partisan activity.
In the year 5 BBY, the cruiser came across a Fondor Haulcraft in orbit above Segra Milo. Elk contacted the cruiser's pilot, the rebel known as Luthen Rael, and requested a transponder ID. Rael delayed and then provided a false ID located by his Fondor Droid Mod, which Elk instructed the pit crew member to run through the system. Elk continued to converse with Rael as they waited for the crew member, ordering the cruiser's tractor beam activated to hold the vessel and then having a boarding team prepared. When the crew member reported that the transponder ID had cleared as belonging to a starship from the Alderaan Trade Alliance, Elk did not have the boarding party stand down, claiming they could use the practice.

Once Elk informed Rael that he was to be boarded, the rebel activated his thrusters fully, beginning to pull away from the cruiser. On Elk's orders the crew member increased the tractor beam by five, but Rael then activated countermeasures that launched shrapnel back into the cruiser's forward tractor dish, shredding it. The crew member informed Elk that the tractor beam was failing, prompting the captain to snap back at his subordinate for the obvious remark. Elk then had an air wing launched, but Rael destroyed it and escaped the Imperials.
The pit crew member was dressed in a black uniform along with a black Imperial Navy Trooper helmet.
Victor Ali played the pit crew member, credited as "Pit #1," in the television series Andor. He appeared in the eleventh episode of the first season, "Daughter of Ferrix," which was broadcast on November 16, 2022.
