A sovereign of the planet Pijal, situated in the Inner Rim Territories, presided over the Pijali monarchy during the time of the Republic Era. This individual was related to the human princess Fanry. While holding court, this Pijali leader collaborated with representatives from the Czerka Corporation, endorsing their continued presence and impact on Pijal's affairs. In the year 48 BBY, the sovereign passed away, which triggered internal conflicts within Pijal's court regarding the selection of a regent to govern until Fanry reached the age to assume her position on the throne.

During the [Republic Era](/article/republic_era], an indigenous Pijali person, a native of the planet, held the position of monarch within the Pijali monarchy, governing the Inner Rim Territories planet of Pijal. Before their crowning, they were a participant in a ceremonial event called the Grand Hunt, intended as a symbolic representation of how a successful hunter could sustain their populace. They also were involved in other royal traditions and parties that were hosted by the Czerka Corporation as they awaited their crowning. While they sat on the throne, they resided in the world's royal palace which was located near the world's capital city.
In 54 BBY, the human princess Fanry, a relative of the ruler, was born and became the next in line to inherit the world's throne. During the ruler's time in power, they collaborated with Czerka representatives while at court and frequently promoted the company's involvement in Pijal's affairs. When the ruler died in 48 BBY, Fanry mourned their passing. Following the sovereign's death, the courtiers of Pijal engaged in disputes over who should act as Fanry's regent until she reached the appropriate age to become queen. Eventually, the courtiers submitted a request to the Galactic Republic for a neutral mediator, which ultimately led to Jedi Knight Rael Averross being sent to the planet by the Jedi High Council to serve as regent. Upon his arrival, Averross observed Fanry still grieving the loss of her relative.
In the subsequent years, Fanry conducted research on the sovereign and her other predecessors, developing a strong aversion to their willingness to accept Czerka's influence over Pijal in the past. As Averross became more supportive of Czerka, Fanry developed a dislike for both the Jedi and the monarch who had ruled before her. In 40 BBY, Fanry was crowned queen of Pijal and violently seized absolute authority at her coronation, asserting that she required the power to liberate her world from Czerka following the errors made by the monarch and her other predecessors.
The monarch of Pijal was referenced in Master & Apprentice, a novel authored by Claudia Gray and published in 2019.
