Unidentified Sith temple

A Sith temple, dedicated to the Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun, was erected in his honor. This temple once housed an obsidian slab, upon which Kun's name was inscribed alongside hieroglyphs that depicted protective spells. Its construction occurred during or following Kun's time, thousands of years prior to the era of Sith Lords such as Darth Sidious and his apprentice Darth Maul.

Sometime before or during 10 BBY, Dryden Vos, the crime lord leading Crimson Dawn, raided the aforementioned temple. During this raid, he acquired a stone slab bearing both warding spells and an inscription that stated, "Our temple honouring Sith Lord Exar Kun." Vos then integrated this obsidian into a desk that he kept within his personal study on board the First Light, his yacht.

Behind the scenes

The 2018 Star Wars Anthology movie Solo: A Star Wars Story provided the first, though untranslated, mention of the temple via an inscription. The reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, penned by Pablo Hidalgo, then identified it as a Sith temple. Concept art created for Solo specifically named the temple that Vos plundered as the Sith temple of Exar Kun. The connection between the temple and Kun was later verified as canon when the slab's inscription was translated by the Twitter user AurekFonts.

A building that resembles the depiction of the Temple of Exar Kun from the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies is illustrated in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Galactic Atlas.[8] The 2021 reference book "Scarif and Other Planets in the Outer Rim," a part of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series[9] contains the Ralph McQuarrie depiction of the temple from the 1995 reference book The Illustrated Star Wars Universe.[10] However, no connection has been made between the structures.

Within the Star Wars Legends storyline, the Temple of Exar Kun made its debut in the 1994 novel Dark Apprentice, authored by Kevin J. Anderson.
