Unidentified Slinani droid

A droid unit functioned as one of several droids dedicated to the protection of the Slinani, a religious warrior society. Its primary duty was safeguarding Red Mist, a significant Migration Shrines for the Slinani. When the archaeologist with a reputation for being a rogue, Chelli Aphra, was contracted to steal an artifact located within Red Mist, she used her slicer skills to reprogram the droid. This alteration shifted the droid's allegiance, causing it to protect Aphra and her associates instead of attacking them. Aided by the reprogrammed droid, Aphra and her young charge, Vulaada Klam, successfully located the artifact. They then utilized the droid to extract the item from the gravity field in which it was contained. While the gravity field resulted in the droid's destruction, it enabled Aphra to secure the artifact.

Biography

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, this particular droid was in service to the Slinani religious warrior clan. It was stationed at Red Mist, a Migration Shrine, and had been responsible for the shrine's defense for a certain time. In the year 3 ABY, Chelli Aphra, the rogue archaeologist, along with her young ward Vulaada Klam, entered the shrine. Aphra's presence was due to an anonymous commission to pilfer an artifact. The individual behind the commission was later revealed to be Minister Pitina Voor of the Coalition for Progress, who intended to exploit Aphra as part of her wider plot to assassinate the Emperor Palpatine.

Doctor Aphra retrieves the artifact from the droid's remains.

Initially, the droid, along with several other similar units, attempted to kill Aphra and Klam for their unauthorized entry into the migration shrine. However, Aphra managed to hijacked the droid's programming, reconfiguring its directives. This caused the droid to turn against its fellow droids, eliminating them. Subsequently, the reprogrammed droid recognized Aphra and Klam as pilgrims, providing them with safe passage through the various security measures and traps within Red Mist. The droid then guided Aphra and Klam to the artifact: a red cape suspended within a powerful gravity trap. Upon Aphra's command, the droid proceeded to retrieve the cape, an action that resulted in the destruction of its head due to the intense gravitational forces. Aphra then recovered the cape from the destroyed droid's remains, allowing her and Klam to successfully escape with the artifact.

Characteristics

The droid was characterized by its red-colored plating and a single red sensor. This sensor changed to green after Aphra successfully manipulated the droid's programming. Originally programmed to eliminate intruders within the shrine, the droid's altered programming led it to believe that Aphra and Klam were pilgrims.

Equipment

When it was attempting to defend Red Mist against Aphra and Klam, the droid was equipped with a blaster.
