The Unification Summit, which occurred in 43 ABY, consisted of a series of discussions that took place on Coruscant. The purpose of these talks was to attempt to bring the Imperial Remnant and the Confederation back into the fold of the Galactic Alliance.
Following the Second Galactic Civil War, the galaxy found itself at peace once more. However, unease persisted among the three major galactic powers, as neither Imperial territory nor the Confederation had rejoined the Galactic Alliance.
During the initial public meeting of these three powers in 43.5 ABY, Luke Skywalker, along with other attendees, observed that the three Heads of State—Jagged Fel representing the Imperial Remnant, Natasi Daala representing the Galactic Alliance, and Turr Phennir representing the Confederation—all shared significant connections to the former Galactic Empire. Daala and Phennir had previously served as an Admiral and General, respectively, while Fel was the offspring of Soontir Fel, a renowned Imperial fighter pilot.
The Galactic Alliance Senate established a committee to prepare for the Unification Summit, led by Tiurrg Drey'lye, a Bothan Senator.
By 44 ABY, widespread slave uprisings across the galaxy, coupled with mounting tensions between the New Jedi Order and Daala's administration, prompted the Chief of State to mandate the swift suppression of these slave movements. Jagged Fel, having successfully persuaded the Moff Council to unite with the Galactic Alliance, was appalled by Daala's readiness to authorize the killing of anyone rebelling against the Alliance, including innocent individuals like journalist Madhi Vaandt, who was killed during the revolt on Blaudu Sextus by Mandalorians under Daala's command. Despite initially promising Imperial troops to aid in quelling the revolts, he ultimately decided to withdraw the Remnant from the Summit, unwilling to unite under Daala's authority after she revealed her true nature. He was also disgusted by her blaming the Jedi for the revolts, even though she had no proof, and it was only motivated by her hatred of them.
