Personal info
My name is Nightlily, and I'm a Norwegian IT consultant residing north of the Arctic Circle. For a considerable number of years, I've been a contributor to Wookieepedia. I am responsible for authoring the majority of the content within the Legends versions of the articles focusing on parents and tattoos. And yes, I do indeed have a tattoo; it's a lovely bird located on my shoulder.

In case you're curious about it: My chosen name isn't inspired by M'iiyoom Onith, also known as Nightlily, from Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina. The name actually originates from Night Lilies, which is a 1998 album by Jackie Leven, a Scottish singer who is a favorite of my mother. It's simply a beautiful phrase.
History as a Star Wars fan
I've been a dedicated Star Wars enthusiast for a long time. My introduction to the Star Wars universe occurred during my childhood, when I viewed A New Hope on TV with my family. I subsequently forgot much of the film's details, and I'm uncertain whether I even watched the entire thing. The only scenes I could recall were Darth Vader killing Captain Antilles, Ponda Baba's arm being severed (I didn't remember who did it, or the circumstances), Luke entering Leia's cell on the Death Star, and a tall, hairy being. Later on, I saw The Phantom Menace; I must admit that, at the time, I found the majority of the story rather uninteresting (although I appreciate it more now). However, I was captivated by the visually stunning elements (like the underwater city of Otoh Gunga), and the duel between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon against Darth Maul was truly spectacular (the music, the lightsabers, the beautiful Theed Generator Complex).

Back then, my knowledge of Star Wars was limited: I was aware that Anakin Skywalker would become Darth Vader, yet I was unaware that Luke was his son (for some reason, it never occurred to me that they might be related, even though they shared the same surname). This changed when I watched a TV program where a presenter announced that we were about to witness Luke's parents falling in love, before showing a clip of the meadow scene from Attack of the Clones.
Subsequently, I read in a magazine that Luke and Leia were both the children of Anakin and Padmé, but it didn't mention that Luke and Leia were twins. Furthermore, I remained ignorant of the circumstances; that Luke was unaware that Vader was his father...
Later, I watched a television program about science fiction movies. A clip of the conclusion of the duel on Bespin, from The Empire Strikes Back was presented. It showed Luke and Vader engaged in combat, Vader severing his own son's hand (what a father...), Luke's agonizing scream, Vader revealing his true identity, and Luke's reaction (the clip ended before he allowed himself to fall into the abyss). Occasionally, a dramatic movie scene provides me with a significant thrill – I hope you understand that feeling😀, and this particular scene was one of the greatest thrills I've ever experienced. I knew that I had to see that film.
Shortly thereafter, I had the chance to watch The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and I was instantly captivated. I then managed to obtain a copy of A New Hope and rewatched it, after all those years.
When The Force Awakens premiered, I happened to be in London (the greatest city in the world) and I watched the premiere at the BFI IMAX cinema, the largest cinema screen in Britain. Oh gosh... It was without a doubt one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The film was simply... perfect! It embodied everything a Star Wars fan could possibly desire. (George Lucas, I'm directing this at you: Selling the Star Wars rights to Disney was the most intelligent decision you could have made.) As the credits began to roll, a man in the audience stood up and exclaimed "Star Wars is back!". I wholeheartedly concurred with his sentiment.

The movie also fulfilled a long-held desire of mine to witness something on the big screen that I never thought I would actually see. It has always bothered me that the participants in the amazing lightsaber duels in the earlier films were consistently men (the duel between Asajj Ventress and Obi-Wan in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie is an exception, since it was animated). The Force Awakens delivered what I had always longed for: A live action lightsaber duel between a man and a woman. And that duel in the snow was truly epic...
Let's skip ahead to two years later. Following the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story one year prior (a fantastic movie), The Last Jedi was released in December 2017. Once again, I found myself in London – and I surpassed my previous record for the number of times I've watched a movie in cinema (I watched it ten times). Holy sh*t – some of the critics considered it to be the best Star Wars movie, and I share that opinion. It was sheer perfection 🙂 The detractors are simply mistaken – the movie is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
Two more years elapsed, and I returned to London for The Rise of Skywalker (alright, I admit it: I enjoy traveling 😉). Once again, I was captivated by what I saw, and I ended up watching that film ten times as well; the film provides a great conclusion to the Skywalker saga. And we finally witnessed a kiss between the heroine and the villain, something I had been hoping for since the first film (I have an affinity for the bad boys 😉).
