Variax, a planet characterized by its rugged terrain, was the location of a shipyard in the time of the High Republic Era. Sellaccc Orryak, a pirate, along with the Ganguls, tried to commandeer starships at the Variax shipyard, having recently acquired new members for their crew and after the capture of Wes Vinik, a Jedi Padawan. Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs, who were Jedi Initiates, successfully freed Vinik and thwarted the Ganguls' plans with the help of Nash Durango, a pilot, and Chigg, an ex-pirate, leaving the Ganguls to face the Variax security.
