Xinith Tarl was a Jedi Master of the Bith species, who held a position on the Jedi High Council of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era.
During the events of the Battle of Jedha, Master Tarl, along with Masters Vohlan and Har'kin, journeyed to Jedha to provide assistance to Master Creighton Sun and Jedi Knight Aida Forte with the goal of bringing the conflict to an end.
Tarl journeyed aboard the Pathfinder vessel named Witherbloom with the rest of the team. She engaged in a conversation with Buran, discussing the mission to Gloam and the loss of the remaining members of his team. When the Witherbloom narrowly avoided a collision with a ship that materialized unexpectedly from hyperspace, she proceeded to the cockpit and attempted to establish communication. The unknown ship initiated an attack, resulting in a collision with the Pathfinder ship, and Xinith sustained significant injuries from falling debris. Buran rescued her from the Witherbloom before its destruction and instructed Ambar to provide her with medical attention. She was then moved to the wreckage of the other ship while the team searched for essential supplies. Ambar noticed that the constant movement was causing Tarl discomfort and placed her in a cargo bay. Although unconscious, she was still impacted by the phenomena that overwhelmed the other Jedi.
Tarl was affected by the creature, prompting Sula Badani to direct the medic, Ambar, to relocate her to a more secure location, despite Ambar's reservations. Upon reaching another cargo bay, the medic carefully laid Tarl on the floor and administered treatment using a medical kit that they had discovered.
After ensuring her comfort, Ambar administered an injection to Tarl, which successfully restored the Bith's consciousness. Badani informed her that the creature was no longer present, but Tarl sensed that they remained in grave danger and needed to alert the others. The creature reappeared outside the hull, and the Jedi recognized that its actions were driven by an insatiable hunger, posing a significant threat to the Jedi. When Buran returned accompanied by several members of the Path of the Open Hand, Tarl instructed Ambar to tend to their injured.
Tarl, along with Ambar and Geth, remained in the cargo bay. She detected the presence of numerous additional creatures, unaware that the jewels stored in the cargo bay were, in fact, eggs. The Jedi Master instructed the medic to gather Geth and relocate to a different area. During her journey through the ship, she encountered the remaining survivors. Rok Buran inquired about Tarl's well-being, to which she responded that she was still alive. As the creatures advanced, Tarl and the other survivors escaped the wreckage before the overloaded engines detonated.
Xinith Tarl possessed sufficient skill in the Force to have achieved the rank of Jedi Master and secure a position on the Jedi High Council. Tarl utilized a lightsaber with a single yellow blade.
