Zarda, a male human, held the rank of captain within the Imperial Navy. This occurred during the early rebellion period, a time of conflict with the Galactic Empire. His duty involved commanding a class four container transport, used for transporting various rare species to the planet of Coruscant. These creatures were intended for the Galactic Emperor Palpatine's personal zoo. As the journey unfolded, the VCX-100 light freighter known as the Ghost approached Zarda's transport. This prompted an attack by TIE/ln space superiority starfighter dispatched from the Imperial vessel. Despite the attack, the Ghost successfully evaded the starfighters, even destroying some of them. Aboard the bridge of the transport, Doctor Hazlekk, responsible for the animals' safe delivery, questioned Zarda about the failure to destroy the Ghost.
Zarda attempted to reassure Hazlekk, but an alarm indicating a hull breach interrupted him. He and the doctor, accompanied by a group of stormtroopers, rushed to secure the released creatures. However, they discovered that the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka had freed them. A battle ensued involving the rebels, the creatures, and Zarda's forces, but Ohnaka locked Zarda's forces inside the cages. Subsequently, the rebels managed to escape, taking with them one of the creatures, an argora.
The character of Zarda made his debut appearance in the 2018 comic book story titled "Endangered, Part 1." This story was penned by Sholly Fisch, with illustrations by Sean Galloway, and was published in Star Wars Adventures (2017) 7.
