Adea Rite, the personal assistant to Imperial Admiral Rae Sloane, had training in various self-defense methods, with Zavat being one of them. During the Rebellion on Akiva, when she crossed paths with the escaped prisoner Wedge Antilles inside the Satrap's Palace located in the city of Myrra on the planet Akiva, she attempted to subdue him by utilizing Zavat along with Imperial Combat Exercises and Echani fighting styles. Although she managed to take away his weapon, she sustained a blaster wound, which enabled him to get away from her.
The novel Aftermath, penned by Chuck Wendig and published in 2015, marked the initial introduction of Zavat.
