The Partisans led by Saw Gerrera conducted a bombing operation on Onoam in 3 BBY, known as the Strike on Onoam. The purpose of this attack was to assassinate Imperial Moff Quarsh Panaka. Shortly before the explosion, Queen Dalné of Naboo and Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan had concluded a visit with Panaka, departing from Panaka's chalet just minutes prior to the incident.
As Organa entered the chalet, she observed a civilian employee wearing a breath mask. Following the explosion, she witnessed this same worker running away. Leia's adoptive parents, Viceroy Bail and Queen Breha, expressed their displeasure regarding death of Panaka. Despite his unwavering allegiance to Emperor Palpatine, they believed Panaka was a respectable individual with whom they could have collaborated to aid at-risk civilians. Unfortunately, his demise stopped him from informing Palpatine of his belief that Leia, the adopted daughter of the House of Organa, was actually the offspring of the late Senator Padmé Amidala from Naboo.
