The confrontation known as the Battle of Yavin Prime unfolded in the skies above Yavin Prime. During this conflict, the New Republic's Talus Group successfully trapped the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer named Victorum within the planet's atmosphere. With crucial assistance from Vanguard Squadron and a dedicated boarding team, they achieved the capture of the vessel and successfully repelled incoming Imperial reinforcements.
The Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Victorum found itself cornered by Talus Group during a fierce battle, however their CR90 corvette sustained heavy damage. Subsequently, Wedge Antilles and Vanguard Squadron appeared on the scene, eliminating a squadron of attacking TIE interceptors. Vanguard then directly engaged the crippled Star Destroyer. Vanguard Five located a point of entry and escorted a contingent of U-wings to board the massive ship. A Quasar Fire-class cruiser-carrier then entered the atmosphere via hyperspace, deploying squadrons of TIE fighters as reinforcements. Vanguard successfully fought off the fighters and destroyed the carrier, only to have three more enter the battle. Ultimately, the boarding party managed to seize control of the Star Destroyer and used its weapons to obliterate the arriving carriers.
Following the conclusion of the battle, Vanguard squadron returned to the Temperance, and Wedge embarked on another mission. The Victorum attempted to make a hyperspace jump to the Nadiri Dockyards, but the jump failed and they arrived in a debris field above Desevro. Desperately requiring repairs, they requested assistance from Vanguard Squadron to defend them from an Imperial attack.
