Heavy Stormtroopers, alternatively referred to as Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers, Imperial Heavy Gunners, Heavy Assault Troopers, or simply Heavies, represented a specialized division of stormtroopers. These troopers were equipped with potent rapid-fire blasters or DLT-19 heavy blaster rifles, capable of obliterating obstacles. Noted engagements during the Galactic Civil War include the battles fought on Endor, Theed, and Jakku.
Heavy Stormtroopers, also designated as Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers or Imperial Heavy Gunners, were stormtroopers within the Galactic Empire's Stormtrooper Corps. These troopers received specialized training in operating heavy weaponry, such as the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and the DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle. Select individuals utilized MPL-57 grenade launchers, TL-50 Heavy Repeaters, or the T-21 light repeating blasters. Their attire consisted of standard stormtrooper armor, often augmented with a black pauldron, an IM-40 three-slot ammunition and tool pouch, and a backpack. Alternatively, they sometimes wore a distinct uniform, similar to standard stormtrooper armor but incorporating black shoulder pads, gauntlets, shin protectors, and boots.
These Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers were frequently observed at the forefront of conflicts, but also served as guards at Imperial facilities. Their primary mission was to bolster regular stormtroopers in combat zones. Despite the effectiveness of their heavy weapons, they were rendered temporarily vulnerable due to a required cool-down period following weapon use. Five years following the onset of the Great Jedi Purge, Imperial Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers were positioned on Zeffo, at the Imperial Refinery located on Kashyyyk, on Ilum, and within the Fortress Inquisitorius situated on Nur. It was here that they encountered and were ultimately defeated by Cal Kestis, the Jedi Padawan. During the Spectres' insurrection against the Empire, they engaged in combat with Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers.
During the Galactic Civil War, Imperial Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers participated in the Battle of Endor against the Rebel Alliance on [Endor](/article/endor]'s moon, fighting alongside the elite Inferno Squad. They besieged the Theed Royal Palace on Naboo and defended the Imperial Star Destroyer Eviscerator from New Republic forces in the Battle of Jakku.
