Skirmishes on Coruscant

Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi was involved in a series of skirmishes on Coruscant. The Black Heth gang joined with the Jin'ha warriors to start a war on the planet, but Kenobi undertook several missions to stop them. He fought a Black Heth gang leader at an Elcor Station, rescued an informant, and planted a tracking device on an arms dealer's starship. The tracking device led the Jedi Order to launch an investigative mission to Obredaan.

Prelude

In 32 BBY, the Galactic Republic was bloated with corruption. Following the Eriadu Trade Summit of that year, Nute Gunray ascended to the post of Viceroy following the death of the non-Neimoidian members of the Trade Federation Directorate. Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum faced charges of corruption. The events were secretly directed by Senator Palpatine and Hego Damask, heirs to the Sith legacy.

Later, on Coruscant, the seat of Republic power, suspicious reports were reaching the Jedi High Council. Jedi Master Mace Windu personally assigned Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi to investigate the dangerous new Black Heth criminal gang.

The Summertime War was waging on Haruun Kal that year while on the Chommell sector planet Naboo, homeworld of Palpatine, Queen Amidala started her rule after her predecessor King Ars Veruna abdicated the throne.

Kenobi was patrolling in the Coruscant underworld, and when returning to the Elcor Station, became involved in a fight with the Black Heth, who had taken over the station. Kenobi cleared the wreckage blocking the transport and defeated a Trandoshan gang member. Kenobi felt something sinister in the Force regarding the attack.

Kenobi then returned to the Temple and was briefed before the Jedi Council in the High Council Chamber. Windu mentioned that the Black Heth had only been involved in petty crime before that point, and that the escalation was a matter of concern. Kenobi then reported his concerns as well, and his Master Qui-Gon Jinn told him to prepare. Kenobi then dueled with a Jedi Training Droid in the Jedi Temple Sparring Arena before his assignment to the next mission.

Informant

Kenobi was then assigned to rescue a Coruscant Guard informant who had been captured by the Black Heth. Kenobi infiltrated the construction site they were holding the informant, and avoided detection by dispatching the gang members and droids who attempted to sound the alarm. Kenobi was able to free the informant, who warned him the Black Heth was smuggling weapons to turn Coruscant into a warzone.

Secrets

Black Heth were buying weapons from an unknown organization and were making a pickup on landing platform Nilat-3. Kenobi was assigned to discover the identity of the organization. Kenobi spied on the platform with macrobinoculars until a starship arrived. He reported the arrival to his Master, who ordered him to plant a tracking device. Kenobi was then spotted by the Black Heth and forced to defend himself.

Additional gang members arrived, but Kenobi was able to dispatch them. He then fought several trained warriors, but defeated them and planted the tracking device.

Aftermath

The tracking device led to the planet Obredaan. The Jedi Order sent a team to investigate the Jin'ha warriors, which failed, necessitating a second mission to Obredaan. Following the announcement of the first mission, Kenobi had a lightsaber training duel with Council member Saesee Tiin.

Behind the scenes

The skirmishes on Coruscant appears in the first chapter of the 2001 video game Star Wars: Obi-Wan. During the mission to rescue the informant, if the player allows an alarm to be triggered, the Black Heth gang executes the informant.
