The Tantive III (with a pronunciation of /ˈtæntɪˌvi 'θri:/), also called the Sundered Heart, served as the personal diplomatic cruiser for Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan during the period of the Clone Wars. Raymus Antilles held the position of captain on this vessel. A unique feature of the Tantive III, setting it apart from other ships of its type, was a hangar that could accommodate a starfighter as large as Grievous's personal ship. The senator utilized it to extract the Jedi Grand Master Yoda along with Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, both survivors of Order 66.
The Tantive III made its initial, albeit brief, appearance within Star Wars canon during the 2005 release of the film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Upon the movie's debut, a common assumption was that it was actually the Tantive IV featured in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. However, Leland Chee, the Keeper of the Holocron continuity database at Lucasfilm, later clarified that it was a distinct vessel known as the Sundered Heart, a detail sourced from Star Wars Legends.
The canonical designation of Tantive III was established within the 2016 edition of the reference work Star Wars: Complete Locations. Furthermore, its identity as the Sundered Heart was reinforced within the second issue of Star Wars Helmet Collection.
