Zone five was a part of the Fervse'dra asteroid belt around the planet of Bothawui, which was located in the Mid Rim. Zone five was located next to zones four and six. In 22 BBY, during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, Kaleesh Separatist General Grievous led his fleet of Munificent-class star frigates to Bothawui in hopes of capturing it for the Confederacy. Arriving at Bothawui, Grievous's fleet began to move through the field to reach a Republic fleet led by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, and passed through zone five in the process.
As Grievous approached, a clone trooper aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Resolute of Resolute command reported the Separatist fleet's movement through the zone while tracking them on a screen. However, Skywalker allowed the frigates to pass beyond zone five, as it meant the ships could be outmaneuvered by All Terrain Tactical Enforcers hidden throughout the asteroid field.
