The Andor team was a team within the Rebel Alliance that had Captain Cassian Jeron Andor as its leader. At the start, the team was made up of just Captain Andor, the prisoner Jyn Erso, and the droid K-2SO. Following a mission to Jedha, the team expanded with the addition of three new members: the two Guardians of the Whills, Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus, and the Imperial defector Bodhi Rook.
After the Andor team made their way back to Yavin 4, they had not only found the location of the Death Star plans, but they also learned that the Imperial scientist Galen Walton Erso had intentionally built a weakness into its design, which could lead to its destruction. Even with this information, the Rebel Alliance High Command wouldn't give the go-ahead for any missions. Sergeant Ruescott Melshi then reached out to Lieutenant Taidu Sefla to join a strike force with the goal of getting the plans. This force, which included the Andor team along with other Alliance special forces squads, eventually became known as Rogue One.
