General Ardinondu Dipolus Daeruun was a general in the Galactic Republic's military, specifically a male Krex. He served during the new conflict against the Sith Empire. His service record includes participating in the defense of the Jedi Colony located on Ossus, successfully pushing back the Nova Blades' incursion on Dantooine, and spearheading the defense of the Meridian Complex during the Meridian Complex assault.
Around the year 3628 BBY, Daeruun was responsible for overseeing the deployment of Republic Military forces along the Perlemian hyperroute. He became aware of an Imperial presence in the vicinity of the planet Ossus, leading to his discovery of the hidden Jedi Colony there. He reached out to Satele Shan, the former Grand Master of the Jedi, for assistance, but she was unable to provide it. Due to the colony's proximity to Imperial territory, Daeruun was unable to secure authorization from the Republic to dispatch reinforcements; despite this, he began the process of assembling them, although this task took a considerable amount of time.
Because of the time it took to gather reinforcements for the Jedi colony's defense, he was compelled to ask the Commander of the Eternal Alliance for assistance, fearing an Imperial invasion of Ossus before he could arrive to help.
General Daeruun was a dedicated loyalist to the Republic. He particularly enjoyed Gatalentan tea and would offer it to his friends.
Despite his intimidating size and appearance, he was an intellectual with a deep appreciation for art. Although naturally strong, Daeruun did not enjoy combat and rarely carried a blaster. The Krex had a great love for literature, poetry, theater, and visual arts, and as a result, he decorated his personal quarters with paintings and musical instruments that he had experimented with over the years. Daeruun's paintings, especially those of Tau Idair, won a Republic painting competition and were later displayed on Carrick Station. The painting's popularity led to Idair receiving numerous requests from admirers to join her unit. Daeruun also enjoyed playing dejarik and would discuss new strategies with his close friend Dol Narlock.
Daeruun's passion for culture and the arts was the main reason he joined the military and served with distinction for so many years. When Daeruun was young, his family collaborated with Jedi Master Vij Markos to assist in resettling refugees from worlds conquered by the Sith Empire, which gave him a profound understanding of the consequences of an Imperial victory.
According to Star Wars: The Old Republic's Creative Director, Charles Boyd, the name "Dipolus Daeruun" is a wordplay on the name of Darin De Paul, who is the voice actor for the character.
When Republic players are rescued by Daeruun's ships near the end of the Jedi Under Siege storyline, they have the option to flirt with him, regardless of their character's gender.
