In the closing year of the Clone Wars, leading up to the Battle of Anaxes, the Republic Military's 212th Attack Battalion alongside the 501st Legion launched an assault on Cato Neimoidia. This event, also known as a campaign on Cato Neimoidia, saw Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi collaborate once again in an attempt to capture Nute Gunray, the leader of the Trade Federation. The primary objective of the offensive was the viceroy's stronghold, located in the western part of the planet Cato Neimoidia. Although Gunray managed to evade capture and escape into the Outer Rim, nearly resulting in failure, the Republic did seize his mechno-chair. This acquisition provided Republic intelligence with crucial insights into the Sith orchestrating the conflict. Skywalker later asserted that he had saved Kenobi's life at some point during this operation.
According to the Star Wars Encyclopedia in its "Anakin Skywalker" entry, Skywalker claimed to have been responsible for saving Kenobi's life during the Cato Neimoidia incident near the war's end. This explains Skywalker's line in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith referencing saving Kenobi during "business on Cato Neimoidia." Within Star Wars Legends, this "business" was detailed in James Luceno's Labyrinth of Evil during the Battle of Cato Neimoidia. However, the canon novel Brotherhood by Mike Chen later presented a mission to Cato Neimoidia much earlier in the war, suggesting it was the "business" mentioned in Revenge of the Sith. As a dedicated fan of Labyrinth of Evil, Chen ensured his book did not contradict the earlier account, allowing fans to continue interpreting Labyrinth of Evil as the "business" on Cato Neimoidia if they preferred.
