Atai Molec

In the Clone Wars era, Atai Molec, along with Count Dooku, engaged in a conversation with Commander Darts D'Nar concerning the latest shipment of colonists from Kiros. Molec expressed his surprise that D'Nar had not yet departed. Subsequently, Republic Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi entered to converse with D'Nar, prompting Molec to growl upon Dooku's introduction of Kenobi.

Molec was on the verge of using his whip on a slave when another slave intervened. He then noticed the slave's master wearing Zygerrian armor and piloting one of their vessels. Initially, Molec regarded him with suspicion when he insisted on speaking with the Queen regarding Bruno Denturri. Nevertheless, Molec presented the individual known as Lars Quell to the queen. Subsequently, Molec received information about a man in Zygerrian armor attempting to liberate enslaved colonists. Molec then deduced that it was Kenobi. Molec then brought Kenobi before the Queen to punish him for the Jedi's transgressions against their empire. However, Molec, the Queen, and their guards were then ambushed by Quell and his slave, who revealed their true identities as Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice, Ahsoka Tano. Despite Tano knocking Molec down, the Queen and her guards eventually managed to subdue the Jedi.

Later on, Molec visited Tano in her cage, revealing that the Queen had promised that after Skywalker was tamed, Tano would be his slave to do with whatever he desired. As an act of defiance, Tano then telekinetically pushed Molec off a precipice, nearly causing him to fall to his death. In retaliation, Molec electrocuted Tano with the shock collar she was wearing as a slave.

Molec subsequently extended an invitation to Count Dooku to visit Zygerria in order to discuss Queen Miraj's defiance in refusing to kill Skywalker. Upon his arrival, Dooku determined that the Jedi should be killed immediately. Molec concurred with the Count's decision to eliminate the Jedi (excluding Tano); however, Miraj opposed these terms and refused to let Anakin die. Dooku then declared that Miraj Scintel was unfit to be queen. Molec remained a bystander as Dooku used the Force to choke her, an act that would prove fatal. Skywalker managed to escape, taking the dying Miraj with him.

Following his usurpation of Miraj, Molec ascended to the throne as king and fathered a son named Sono.

Atai Molec, a male Zygerrian, possessed a height of 1.9 meters (6 feet, 3 inches). His physical characteristics included red hair, blue eyes, and tan skin. He held the dual roles of Zygerria's prime minister and captain of the royal guard. Molec was driven by a desire to expand Zygerria's inhumane slave-trading empire. Upon Queen Scintel's refusal to kill Anakin Skywalker, Molec invited Count Dooku to Zygerria to engage in discussions with the rebellious monarch. He remained passive as the Count strangled the queen.

Molec was recognized for his proficiency in both armed and unarmed combat, as well as his skills in bureaucracy, leadership, intimidation, and security.
