Plot summary

Vilmarh Grahrk arrives at Watto's shop to collect on a debt owed to him by Watto, and chooses three DUM-series pit droids as payment. Initially, Watto attempts to dissuade him, but Vilmarh assumes Watto is simply trying to prevent him from taking the droids. However, it is revealed that the droids have defective programming that causes them to interfere with everything around them. Subsequently, Watto dispatches Shmi Skywalker to escort the droids to Vilmarh's ship, the Inferno.

In the meantime, Princess Miaria Prrt requests passage to her home planet, Felacat, from Vilmarh. Vilmarh agrees, but Miaria warns him that her species has a limited tolerance for the strain of hyperspace travel. After the princess departs, Vilmarh signs the release documents for the pit droids and engages in a conversation with his droid regarding his intentions with the princess.

During their journey through hyperspace, Miaria experiences a headache, and Vilmarh notices that they have not yet exited hyperspace. While Vilmarh investigates the cause of the problem, Miaria begins to transform.

Upon entering the cockpit, Vilmarh discovers the pit droids tampering with the navigation computer. However, he is quickly confronted by a monstrous version of Miaria. As he retreats into a crawl chute, his ship's AI informs him that the pit droids are in the process of disassembling the core processor. After deactivating the droids, Vilmarh flees from Miaria and confines her to an escape pod until they reach their destination planet.

After arriving on the planet, Vilmarh demands a reward from the leader. However, the leader and his guards threaten to transform into monsters if subjected to "stress."

Later, aboard the ship, Vilmarh smiles. When his droid inquires about the reason for his happiness, Vilmarh informs the AI that he left the pit droids on the planet with instructions to "fix the planet to death." This prospect brings Vilmarh great satisfaction.
