Bazeese script

Bazeese script, a writing system, was utilized on the planet Ferrix, which is situated in the Free Trade sector. In conjunction with Aurebesh, it could be seen in various locations, such as on signage for businesses like Greyble Service, Gavalox Communications, Zorby's Western Shiplot, a droid parts store, and Nicola's, as well as on a local shuttle and funerary stones.

Usage

On the exterior of the Ferrix Depot, Bazeese characters were painted near the top of a wall; however, the translation of these characters yields only nonsense.

This script was used on a sign outside of Greyble Service to say "PARTS SOLD HERE".

Timm Karlo's kitchen featured a device with a vertical label in this alphabet. The label, rendered in blue letters, read "MADE IN FERRIX".

The sign for "GAVALOX COMMUNICATIONS" displayed the business's name in Aurebesh at the top and in this alphabet at the bottom. The business name was also inscribed in Bazeese on a street lamp, with two lines of the same words circling the lamp, but with differing color tones.

Maarva Andor's funerary stone

The entrance sign for Zorby's Western Shiplot featured this script, spelling out "ZORBYS". The letters were stylized, exhibiting elongated characters positioned at varying vertical levels.

The words "ENGINE 22" and "FERRIX ENTRY FERRY SERVICE" were inscribed on a local shuttle ferry.

Upon Luthen Rael's arrival on Ferrix, after his conversation with Bix Caleen and as he tucked his walking stick into his coat, he passed a building with the inscription "[obscured]RMONEY . WEBUYWESE[obscured]EHAV[obscured]" along the roofline, which is believed to mean "...MONEY . WE BUY WE SELL WE HAVE...".

One sign for a store selling droid parts was composed of red and yellow text against a dark blue backdrop. While the top and bottom portions of the sign were written in Aurebesh, reading "DROID PARTS" and "REPAIR SERVICE" respectively, the middle section was in Bazeese and appeared to say "DROID PARTS," mirroring the top of the sign.

The name of the beverage establishment "NICOLA'S" was rendered in Bazeese script. The name was printed in blue letters atop the building, while red lettering encircling the window read "NICOLA'S TEAROOMS REFRESHMENTS HERE CAFF [sic] SERVED". The roofline of the building to the left of Nicola's was inscribed with the Bazeese phrase "MANNER OF T[obscured]" in red letters.

Another business sign displayed "CARL'S" in vertically arranged letters, with the letter C inverted. Adjacent to this, the phrase "WE TRADE IN ALL CURRENCIES" was written horizontally.

Cassian Andor's adoptive father's funerary stone was inscribed with:

The stone carried by the procession during Cassian's adoptive mother's funeral said:

A sign located above the entrance to an administrative building in close proximity to the Ferrix Depot displayed "ADMINISTRATION" in Bazeese.

Behind the scenes

A fan mapping of the Bazeese letters and numbers

The television series Andor was the origin of Bazeese script's creation. Barry Gingell, a graphic designer for the show, verified via Twitter that this was a newly designed alphabet for the series, but he could not reveal its name at the time. The episode guide for "Rix Road" eventually revealed the script's name as Bazeese script.

Gingell also stated that symbols for the digraphs OO and AA were made. This was because the symbols were made to flow as a block of text, and double letters disrupted the flow and how the characters worked together. Although Maarva Andor's's name seems to be written wrong as "Marva" on the funerary stone in "Rix Road", Gingell explained that the first A is actually a symbol representing a double A, with the size of the circle in the A showing whether it is single or double.
