Bogling

These diminutive, furry beasts called Boglings are indigenous to the planet of Bogano. Functioning in sizable groups, they excavated numerous tunnels and constructed nests within the stony plains and swamps of Bogano. They were the targets of predation by both bog rats and splox; splox frequently enticed boglings from their subterranean homes to be ambushed by bog rats, thus enabling the splox to infiltrate the burrows and consume the bogling's eggs. Boglings had potential value in the illicit market. Greez Dritus, a Latero, transported a collection of boglings to the planet.

Biology and appearance

A bogling

Boglings procreated through the laying of eggs, which were incubated within their underground nests.

While their bodies were generally furry, boglings possessed exposed feet and legs that evolved for running, facilitating movement across the rocky and marshy landscape of Bogano. This adaptation also allowed them to rapidly leap, alter direction, and evade predators. The fur covering the rest of their bodies compensated for any heat loss through their feet.

Behavior

Bogling behavior was primarily focused on defending against the numerous predators inhabiting Bogano. Some individuals were even discovered deceased while battling an Oggdo, desperately attempting to safeguard their families. Boglings dedicated roughly a third of their existence to excavating a subterranean tunnel system beneath Bogano's surface, linking their underground nests. These tunnels were often concealed and incorporated traps as a defensive measure against predators and trespassers. They cooperated in large groups referred to as "heckles," with each bogling capable of digging up to five meters per day.
