The Canto Casino, officially the Canto Casino and Racetrack, was a large resort found within Canto Bight on the Outer Rim Territories planet of Cantonica. This complex contained the Crescent Royale Casino alongside other casino establishments, in addition to a racetrack, a high-end hotel, a shopping area, and twenty-two separate restaurants.
During 34 ABY, while trying to locate Maz Kanata's associate, the Master Codebreaker, in an effort to aid the Resistance in their escape from the First Order's grasp, Finn, Rose Tico, and BB-8 journeyed to the Canto Casino in Canto Bight. This casino was situated close to the Canto Bight racetrack, and there they observed a fathier race. However, they were subdued with stun blasts by officers of the Canto Bight Police Department and subsequently taken to the Canto Bight police headquarters. Thanks to assistance from DJ and BB-8, Finn and Rose were able to break out of jail and make their way to the racetrack.
Once they arrived at the racetrack, Finn and Tico sought refuge from the police and began formulating a plan to leave the city. Ultimately, they decided to flee using a fathier. Temiri Blagg, a stable boy responsible for the care of the fathiers at the racetrack, contemplated alerting the racetrack's security personnel, but Finn and Rose successfully convinced him and his companions that they were affiliated with the Resistance, and gave the boy Tico's Resistance ring. Immediately afterward, Finn and Tico freed the fathiers and made their escape from Canto Bight.
