The central command and detention facility for the corrupt Canto Bight Police Department was the Canto Bight police headquarters. Located in the seaside city of Canto Bight on the planet of Cantonica, officers utilized it as their base of operations. The largest jail on Cantonica was located within its walls.

During 34 ABY, VaporTech employee Kedpin Shoklop, who was named Vaporator Salesbeing of the Year, was awarded a vacation to Canto Bight. He was quickly and unwillingly drawn into the criminal schemes of Anglang Lehet. Lehet's plan involved using a Bomb that Shoklop had swallowed, followed by getting the Wermal arrested, with the intention of detonating the device to assassinate Brawg, a member of the Canto Bight Police Department, within the headquarters. Shoklop was soon unjustly accused and arrested, subsequently being taken to the police headquarters where Brawg began interrogating him. Lehet, upon recognizing the ethical implications of his actions, chose not to detonate Shoklop, who had been assaulted and incarcerated. Using his advance payment for the assassination, Lehet bailed out Shoklop, falsely claiming that Shoklop's sentence had been waived. The two, who were soon to become friends, then departed from the headquarters, the assassination attempt having failed.
Later, Finn, Rose Tico, and BB-8 traveled to the Canto Casino located in Canto Bight as they searched for Maz Kanata's associate, the Master Codebreaker, hoping to assist the Resistance in escaping the First Order. Upon arrival, Finn and Tico violated parking regulation 27B/6 by landing their transport on the beach. Consequently, they were subdued with stun blasts by the Canto Bight Police Department and taken to the Canto Bight Jail. Following his escape from Dobbu Scay at the city's casino, BB-8 proceeded to the jail to facilitate the rescue of his friends.

While imprisoned and feeling hopeless about the Resistance's situation, Finn and Rose encountered DJ, a fellow prisoner in their cell, who offered them an opportunity to escape. Despite the Rebels' initial doubts, DJ bypassed the lock and opened their cell door, revealing BB-8 who had entered the jail and restrained several officers who were occupied with gambling at a table in the hallway. After Rose and Finn accepted DJ's offer to escape, DJ, aided by BB-8, managed to incapacitate the police officer who discovered the situation. With the officers dealt with, the Resistance heroes then escaped from the jail, using a sewer manhole located in the headquarters' floor to reach the Canto Bight racetrack.

The Canto Bight police headquarters was a sizable, tan-colored, sloped, and circular structure positioned high within the coastal city of Canto Bight. It provided views of the Sea of Cantonica and the streets of the city. The building featured barred windows encircling a higher level, along with a gated walkway at the structure's base, where police officers could patrol, illuminated by floating lamps. Several landing platforms extended from the walkway, providing direct access to the department's Zephyr GB-134 speeders from the headquarters. In proximity to the main structure, there existed at least one separate tower-like structure equipped with additional landing pads for speeders.

The jail within the police headquarters included at least one lengthy, rounded corridor with subdued lighting. The prison's interior was consistently a deep gray, with each cell featuring a circular, metal door with bars and an external lock. The lock controlled additional bars located above the primary door, which could be retracted upon opening. The cells contained bunk beds on either side of the room, along with a wall-mounted ladder for accessing the upper bunk. Nearby, panels were mounted on the hallway walls, and at least one sewer cover was present on the floor, granting access to the city's sewer network and, ultimately, the racetrack. Within the main hallway, a table and chairs were provided for officers, with some even engaging in card games at one point. Interrogation rooms were also located within the headquarters.
