Carole Grawley was a farmer of the human female persuasion residing on the moon known as Sulon. She was married to Grif and was the mother of Katie Grawley.
Being a woman native to Sulon, Carole had acquaintances among the Katarn family. She entered into matrimony with Grif Grawley, and they had a daughter named Katie.
In the year 1 BBY, Carole and Grawley were present outside their residence when they directly witnessed the horrors of the Sulon massacre perpetrated by the Galactic Empire. The initial sign was an Imperial probe droid flying nearby, which was quickly followed by blaster fire ripping through their home and setting it ablaze. Overcome with the desire to save Katie, who was desperately crying for assistance, Carole rushed toward the burning house. Grawley, at the last moment, managed to restrain her just before the entire structure collapsed, resulting in their daughter's death. However, Carole suffered severe burns, leaving noticeable scars on her face.
Subsequently, with the assistance of Morgan Katarn, the couple made the decision to emigrate to Ruusan.
Around 5 ABY, on the anniversary of Katie's birth, her husband "commemorated" the event by drowning his sorrows in alcohol at Smuggler's Rest until he lost consciousness. She received a summons to Fort Nowhere, and with assistance from the local populace, they transported him back home on their skimmer.
Six months later, Grif was near Hill 461 tending to their gra and called her to say good night. Carol then informed him that all weather satellites were malfunctioning. He did not return the next day, causing her worry. She contacted Horley at Fort Nowhere to inquire about his whereabouts.
Eventually, Grif returned home, and his concerns were validated when an assault shuttle carrying Imperial envoys landed in the settlement. Carole overheard that they only spoke with Mayor Byron Devo III before departing without incident. She attempted to alleviate Grif's anxieties, expressing hope that the Imperial Remnant had reformed after the death of Emperor Palpatine. However, she failed to convince Grif, who remained determined to leave their home.
Unfortunately, Grif's fears were justified, and despite appearances, the Imperials devastated Fort Nowhere. Grif managed to gather some survivors, and they sought refuge in an ancient temple. Shortly thereafter, an unknown ship, guided by Grif's transmitted coordinates, arrived at a designated location. Fido inspected the area and the pilots, and then led them to the temple. Monitoring Fido's feed, she questioned whether they were Rebels, and Grif speculated whether one of the pilots was Kyle Katarn, Morgan's son. Upon the ship's arrival, it was confirmed that it was indeed Kyle. Meeting Grif, he inquired about his wife, to which Carole responded that she was well and expressed gratitude to his father for bringing them to the planet. She was later shocked to learn of Morgan's death, which was the reason for Kyle's defection from the Empire.
Inside the temple, Carole listened to her husband recount the recent events, experiences that would forever be etched in her memory. She lamented that these events were the result of the townspeople ignoring Grif's warnings. She then heard Katarn's account of his defection from the Empire, the Dark Jedi Jerec who was pursuing the Valley of the Jedi on the planet, and his minions who had attacked them. Carole was amazed by his story, although Luther Pardy dismissed it as "fairy tales" and accused Katarn of being a spy.
Some days after these events, her husband accompanied the agents on their quest to the Valley of the Jedi, but he never returned, as he perished in combat with an attack droid, somewhere near Jerec's base.
Carole viewed her husband Grif as lacking in tact. Following his drinking episode, she disapproved of his excessive consumption of Old Trusty.
Being deeply attached to him, she disliked when he had to herd the gras over long distances and was particularly anxious when he operated their old skimmer. She was not fond of the concept of cave farming.
The transformation that occurred after the destruction of the Fort, when her previously marginalized husband stepped up to help and became the leader of the survivors, was nothing short of a miracle to her.
In the audio drama adaptation of Dark Forces: Jedi Knight, her voice was provided by Sue Scott.
