The Cathar were a sentient species of humanoid beings with catlike features. These beings were characterized by their manes and fur.
During the High Republic Era, a Cathar named Tasia held the rank of Storm within Lourna Dee's Tempest, a division of the Nihil pirate group. Also, in 5 ABY, a female Cathar called Dhina served as an ensign on the New Republic General Hera Syndulla's flagship, the Deliverance Star Destroyer.
The initial canon appearance of the Cathar occurred in the 2021 novel Victory's Price. This novel was the final book in Alexander Freed's Alphabet Squadron trilogy. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Cathar were first seen in the first issue of the Dark Lords of the Sith story arc of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comic series, published by Dark Horse Comics on October 1, 1994.
