Chant of Resurrection

The Chant of Resurrection was an incredibly potent and dark incantation employed to temporarily reanimate those who had died. Originating from magick, it appeared as a greenish haze conveyed from, or by, a radiant orb or crystalline object, and its recitation necessitated a specific language. Despite its strength, the spell's duration was contingent on the caster's continued activity; if they stopped maintaining it, or were killed while using it, the reanimated corpses would immediately revert to being lifeless.

History

This incantation was put to use by Old Daka, the most senior of the Dathomiri Nightsisters, to bolster the Nightsisters' forces against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. However, during the conflict, General Grievous slew Daka, causing the undead to revert to their deceased state. The surviving Nightsisters, having suffered immense casualties, were swiftly defeated and slaughtered. Some years afterward, Merrin, one of the last Nightsister survivors, utilized the spell following the visit of former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis to Dathomir. Subsequently, Merrin would again invoke the spell to assist her and the Mantis crew during one of their operations against the Haxion Brood.

A Night Troopers is reanimated by the Great Mothers.

The Great Mothers from Peridea's Dathomiri fortress were able to cast the spell, reviving willing members of Grand Admiral Thrawn's Night Trooper legion. This was done to slow down Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger, preventing them from thwarting their schemes. These zombified stormtroopers continued fighting despite suffering injuries, and were only stopped when the Jedi trio sealed them behind reinforced doors, which the troopers were then compelled to try and breach. Ultimately, these undead soldiers met their end when Thrawn, in a desperate attempt to restrain Tano and her allies, commanded the Chimaera to bombard the Dathomiri fortress. While Wren and Tano narrowly escaped death aboard their ship T-6 1974, and Bridger had already secured passage on the Chimaera, the reanimated Night Troopers were consumed by the destruction.
