Battle of Chyron Belt
The confrontation known as the Battle of Chyron Belt occurred around 34 ABY, during the First Order-Resistance War. Its designation comes from the Chyron celestial body located in the Expansion Region. Amilyn Holdo, a veteran of the Galactic Civil War who served with the Rebel Alliance and later rose to the rank of Vice Admiral in the Resistance, participated in this battle, which took place around the time of the conflict.
Poe Dameron, a Commander in the Resistance, had become aware of Holdo's involvement in the Battle of Chyron Belt by 34 ABY, even though he had never met the Vice Admiral. In that year, Dameron was present at a briefing on the Resistance cruiser Raddus. Holdo, having been appointed to command the Resistance fleet, addressed the assembled personnel. Following her speech, Dameron inquired of C'ai Threnalli, a fellow pilot, whether the unconventional Vice Admiral who had just spoken was indeed the same individual who had fought in the Battle of Chyron Belt. Threnalli responded with a shrug and a mumbled confirmation in the Abednedish language.
Behind the scenes
The 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, part of the sequel trilogy, was the first mention of the Battle of Chyron Belt. In the second issue of Marvel Comics' comic adaptation of the film, penned by Gary Whitta and released on May 23, 2018, Poe Dameron delivers a different version of the line referencing the battle to Amilyn Holdo, with the battle's name incorrectly spelled as "Battle of Chryon Belt." Ian Doescher's non-canon adaptation William Shakespeare's Jedi the Last: Star Wars Part the Eighth, released on July 10, 2018, presents yet another iteration of the line as an aside, and introduces the alternate name "Clash of Chyron Belt" for the engagement.
