Commenor

Commenor was an ancient world, steeped in tradition, situated within the Colonies region of the galaxy; it is classified as a planet.

History

Jan Dodonna, a General of the Rebel, originated from Commenor, as did Fatimah Nurii, an Imperial officer. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the planet offered its support to the Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine, although an underground resistance movement also operated there.

Following the Battle of Endor which took place in 4 ABY, the Empire targeted Commenor as part of Operation: Cinder, with the intent of destroying the world after the Emperor's death. The Empire's fleets brought widespread destruction to the civilizations residing on the planet. After the Galactic Concordance was signed, conditionally allowing the remaining forces of the Empire to coexist peacefully with the New Republic, Commenor fell under the governance of the Inner systems' Imperial remnant. Three decades following the Battle of Endor, Commenor held membership in the New Republic, and was represented in the Galactic Senate by Thanlis Depallo.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Commenor occurred in Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker, which is the Legends novelization of the film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The reference book Ultimate Star Wars, published in 2015, contained the first mention of it within canon.
