Coruscant auditorium

This large hall existed on the planet Coruscant during the initial years of the Imperial Era.

Description

The hall's defining feature was its tall ceiling. At one end was a raised platform, accessible via stairways on either side. The Imperial crest was displayed on two banners; a smaller banner hung from the stage's edge, while a larger banner was displayed on the wall behind the stage.

History

Imperial officers getting choked through the Force by Darth Vader as punishment for assassination attempts against him

During the period of 19 to 18 BBY, several plots to assassinate Emperor Palpatine's second-in-command, Darth Vader, were carried out by members of the Imperial Officer Corps. Consequently, Palpatine summoned many officers to this hall, where he announced that any order given by Vader was to be considered as if it came from himself. After Palpatine's address, Vader randomly selected five officers: Barokki, Corin Ferro, Zorta Bingan, Joon Strephi, and Tomas Azoras, and called them to the front. He spoke about the assassination attempts, stating that he was unsure who was behind them, but that he would always survive. Vader then used the Force to choke the five officers, killing them as their colleagues watched in terror. Among those killed, only Barokki had been involved in the conspiracy. One conspirator, still alive, was present in the audience.
