He met his death alongside four other officers due to a plot against Darth Vader. Vader commented that despite his suspicions about the conspirators, he would inevitably endure.
Zorta Bingan was a male human who served the Galactic Empire as an officer in the Imperial Officer Corps. After a failed assassination attempt on Darth Vader by bounty hunters on Cabarria, Vader, upon arriving at Coruscant, instructed his droid to analyze the origin of the bounty. The droid reported that the contract originated from the highest echelons of the Imperial Executive Building, even implicating the offices of Emperor Palpatine. The droid further indicated a 97% probability of the signal originating from that location, with no evidence of slicing detected.
Subsequently, Vader requested a list of individuals possessing Imperial system access codes above Level 1A1. This list included Bingan, alongside Corin Ferro, Wilhuff Tarkin, Cassio Tagge, Jer Croteau, Tomas Azoras, and Joon Strephi. Following a second assassination attempt in orbit above Coruscant, which resulted in Vader and the Ninth Sister crashing their starship, Vader convened with the Emperor and used meditation to discern that Barokki, an officer he had previously used a force choke on some time ago, was also involved. Vader then presented a potential solution to the Emperor.
Bingan and numerous other officers were summoned to a auditorium located on Coruscant. Vader's reasoning was that the officers' conspiracy stemmed from a lack of understanding regarding Vader's position as Emperor Palpatine's second-in-command. After a short speech by Emperor Palpatine reinforcing Vader's role, Vader "randomly" selected Bingan, along with Ferro, Azoras, Barokki, and Strephi, and killed them using the Force. He then declared that despite suspicions about conspirators, he would always prevail. Among those killed, Barokki was one of two officers involved in the conspiracy. The other conspirator, identifiable by two missing fingers, was not chosen and thus survived.
