Crimson Jack was a pirate of the male human species. During the conflict known as the First Order-Resistance War, he sought to collect a bounty offered by the First Order. His attempt stemmed from his discovery that someone aboard the Purrgil-class starcruiser named Halcyon had transmitted information to the Resistance. Via a hologram transmission, Jack threatened Captain Riyola Keevan, asserting that the First Order would handsomely reward him for delivering the responsible party. It should be noted that "Crimson Jack" was also an assumed name, an alias previously used by Jod Na Nawood, another pirate from nearly a quarter-century prior.
The canon introduction of Crimson Jack occurred in Star Wars: Halcyon Legacy's first issue, a comic book miniseries. Ethan Sacks wrote it, Will Sliney provided the illustrations, and Marvel Comics released it on February 2, 2022. In the Star Wars Legends timeline, Crimson Jack initially appeared in the seventh issue of the original Marvel Star Wars comic series. This issue was penned by Roy Thomas and Howard Chaykin, with Chaykin also serving as the illustrator, and Marvel published it on October 11, 1977.
