A communication tower was used by the Galactic Empire on the world of Crucival for inter-world communications. The structure was defended by stormtroopers, probe droids, and TIE/ln space superiority starfighters; additionally, it could project its own deflector shield dome. Although Imperial personnel rarely ventured out, TIE starfighters regularly patrolled the vicinity. In 1 BBY, the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry launched an assault on the communication tower, with the Empire's forces on site recruiting Crucival locals to assist in its defense. Many of these new recruits perished, and the majority of Imperial troops sought refuge behind the tower's shield dome. After a five day conflict, the tower was brought down.
Located on the Outer Rim planet of Crucival, the communication tower was utilized by the Galactic Empire to communicate across worlds. The tower was guarded by a contingent of Imperial stormtroopers, probe droids, and TIE/ln space superiority starfighters, as well as a substantial deflector shield dome capable of activation.

The Empire's use of the Crucival communication tower dates back to 6 BBY. While TIE starfighters frequently patrolled the surrounding area, Imperial staff seldom left the tower's premises. Hazram Namir, a young warrior serving the Malkhanis clan under the alias Donin, was surprised by a TIE fighter returning to the communication tower as it flew over numerous Malkhani warriors preparing to fight another group. Another soldier cautioned Namir against interfering with the Imperials or approaching the tower, warning that it would likely result in his death.
In 1 BBY, the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry set their sights on the Crucival communication tower. In anticipation of the incoming attack, the Imperials stationed there provided blasters to Crucival inhabitants willing to aid in the tower's defense. Namir and a group of unaffiliated soldiers he had assembled accepted the Empire's offer. However, when the 61st attacked, Namir's comrades were decimated, and the Imperial forces sought shelter beneath the tower's shield dome, with the exception of some probe droids and TIE fighters. The rebels maintained a barrage of fire on the shield dome using their artillery and the 61st's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike. The tower was destroyed on the fifth day of combat, and scavengers arrived to pick over the battlefield for weapons and other valuables.
The communication tower was featured in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, penned by Alexander Freed.
