Daho Sejan

Daho Sejan was a Pau'an male who served as a senator, representing his homeworld of Utapau in the Galactic Empire throughout the Imperial Era.

Biography

Background

As the representative for Utapau within the Imperial Senate, Senator Daho Sejan publicly declared his lack of enthusiasm for the Galactic Empire's occupation of his planet. However, convinced that the New Order was unstoppable, he instead focused on winning the Emperor's favor, prioritizing his personal safety even if it meant being disgraced in the eyes of his own people.

Sejan once communicated with a colleague, comparing the Senate to a fixed gambling establishment. He wrote that because Palpatine consistently prevailed in the political arena, it appeared futile to participate unless one could simultaneously secure personal advantages. By 9 BBY, Senator Sejan had acquired a yacht of the Ramsidian class, manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems.

Hunting Cal Kestis

In an attempt to directly gain favor with Emperor Palpatine, and bypass Darth Vader and the Inquisitorius, Senator Sejan sought to purchase the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, who was being held captive by officers from the Coruscant Security Force. On his orders, Level 2046 was shut down, and a curfew was put in place, with non-compliant citizens being arrested and imprisoned.

After Kestis was handed over, Sejan informed Kestis that he was aware that the failed coup on Norsid was his doing. Sejan examined Kestis' lightsaber, proclaiming that the weapon would be seen as legendary by future generations. He demanded that Kestis reveal the locations of other fugitive Jedi, but unbeknownst to him, the entire situation was a ruse orchestrated by Kestis and his allies to infiltrate Sejan's yacht and steal the classified military information stored onboard.

Death

Sejan was killed by the Ninth Sister because he was thought to have committed treason by protecting a traitor.

After defeating Sejan's stormtroopers and patrol trooper escort, Kestis's team disabled the yacht and boarded it. Kestis employed a mind trick on Sejan to force him to access the terminal. The senator tried to negotiate a "deal" with the Jedi, asserting that the latter's group stood no chance against the Empire, but his grim warnings were ignored. However, as the group attempted to escape with the Pau'an representative as their prisoner, they were ambushed by Imperial forces. Just as he was about to complain about the delay, the Inquisitor Ninth Sister stabbed the senator in the chest for suspected disloyalty.

Legacy

In 35 ABY, Sejan was referenced in The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, a historical account penned by Beaumont Kin. Drawing upon information obtained from Imperial Archives, Section: Senator Daho Sejan, File: ZE14 - seized records, Kin highlighted Sejan's mixed feelings towards Emperor Palpatine, and that Sejan had been executed for what he termed an "unspecified form of treason".

Personality and traits

Similar to most Pau'ans, Daho Sejan possessed wrinkled grey skin, red eye sockets, sharp teeth, and long fingers with claws. Despite expressing concern for his people and claiming he did not want Utapau to join the Empire, the Pau'an was primarily concerned with his own welfare. Convinced that resisting the growing Imperial forces was futile, the senator instead sought to improve his standing with the Emperor. However, Sejan's misguided sense of security stemming from his choice of allegiance blinded him to the intolerance of treachery characteristic of his Imperial counterparts, such as the Inquisitorius operative Ninth Sister.

He also had a reputation for torturing captives on his yacht, including a dedicated area of the ship with equipment specifically for extracting information through violent means.
