Issue number five of the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi comic book series, titled Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm 5, also marks the conclusion of the Force Storm story arc. This particular issue, the fifth overall, was brought to life by the writing team of John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, with Ostrander handling the script, Duursema providing the pencils, Wes Dzioba adding the colors, Dan Parsons inking the lines, and Michael Heisler crafting the lettering; its release date was June 20, 2012. Within its pages, the storyline wraps up the confrontation taking place on the planet Tython in the Rift between the Je'daii Order and the Force Hound known as Xesh, while also bringing an end to the destructive Force Storm itself. As the issue concludes, Xesh faces exile to the moon called Bogan, effectively setting the stage for the subsequent story arc, The Prisoner of Bogan.
The ancient world of Tython is experiencing an imbalance in the Force, resulting in a devastating Force storm that threatens to annihilate the entire planet!
While three powerful Je'daii Masters are dedicated to quelling the storm's fury, three of their pupils grapple with the challenge of forming a precarious alliance with the enigmatic stranger whose very presence ignited the storm.
As this initial chapter of the grand saga reaches its climax, forces far surpassing the Je'daii's comprehension will be brought to light, revealing a looming threat that endangers the entire galaxy!
Xesh, the Force Hound, initially deserted the Je'daii Journeyers who had rescued him from the clutches of the saarl within the Rift, choosing to observe their struggles from a distance. However, he finds himself drawn back into the fray when he witnesses Shae Koda's demonstration of the light side of the Force and her unwavering commitment to protecting her companions. Intrigued, the Force Hound rejoins Koda in her battle just as Je'daii Rangers Rori Fenn and Hawk Ryo arrive to lend their support. Although Xesh successfully eliminates the saarl threat, the Force Storm continues to intensify, with the Force Hound remaining at its epicenter. With assistance from the other Je'daii Temple Masters, Quan-Jang manages to restore balance to the Force, effectively ending the storm, however, his apparent death during this act sends Koda into a rage, causing her to activate Xesh's Forcesaber—a feat previously thought to be exclusive to the Force Hound—in an attempt to exact revenge before regaining control of her emotions. Despite their injuries, Xesh, Quan-Jang, and the others receive healing at Mahara Kesh, the Temple of Healing, yet despite the Journeyers' pleas, the Je'daii Council decides to banish Xesh to Bogan in the hopes that he will find inner equilibrium.
