Mahara Kesh

Mahara Kesh, also known as the Temple of Healing, stood as one of the nine Je'daii Temples that the Je'daii Order founded on the planet of Tython. Its construction spanned from 36,453 BBY to 36,019 BBY, with Mahara Kesh erected within the Deep Ocean, enveloping the Tho Yor pyramid ship that had transported the initial Force-sensitive pilgrims to the sea. The Je'daii who studied at Mahara Kesh specialized in the art of healing, and Je'daii Journeyers—the young Je'daii undertaking their Great Journey across Tython to visit each temple—gained knowledge of healing practices, both with and without the aid of the Force, at this location. During the Despot War, a conflict that occurred in 25,805 BBY, laser cannons were installed on the temple for defense, and by 25,793 BBY, the Selkath couple Naro and Calleh, who were bonded as mates, jointly held the position of Temple Masters at Mahara Kesh.

Description

Mahara Kesh

Mahara Kesh, a structure that floated amidst the Deep Ocean of Tython, was built enclosing the Tho Yor pyramid ship that originally brought the first pilgrims to the Deep Ocean. A stone island, rectangular in shape with walls that were both smooth and steep, was constructed surrounding the Tho Yor, featuring triangular extensions protruding from each corner, which housed laser cannons. The portion of the temple that rose above this base consisted of a series of flat platforms, forming a step pyramid structure that was gray-green in color. The tip of the Tho Yor, which extended beyond the pyramid, was crowned with a blue crystalline tower.

Surrounding the Tho Yor were eight smaller pyramids, each also adorned with its own blue tower. Furthermore, parts of Mahara Kesh extended underwater. A number of towers descended from the temple's underside, with a central prong that was larger than the others. Inside, the temple was equipped with advanced medical facilities, chambers, and various rooms dedicated to meditation. Many rooms along the exterior of the temple featured large windows, providing occupants with views into the depths of the Deep Ocean.

History

In 36,453 BBY, the event known as the Tho Yor Arrival took place. During this event, eight Tho Yor pyramid starships transported Force-sensitive philosophers, warriors, scientists, artists, and scholars of various species from across the galaxy to Tython, dispersing the pilgrims across its surface. One of these Tho Yor journeyed to the Deep Ocean, where it partially submerged and remained afloat. By 36,019 BBY, the Je'daii Order, as the pilgrims began calling themselves, had constructed Mahara Kesh—the Temple of Healing—around the Tho Yor. It became one of the nine Je'daii Temples built around or near the other eight Tho Yor. By this time, the Je'daii had established the tradition of the Great Journey, in which young Je'daii, known as Je'daii Journeyers, would travel across Tython, visiting each temple. The Je'daii at Mahara Kesh devoted their studies to the healing arts, learning and teaching both healing through the Force and healing without its aid.

Some of the facilities at Mahara Kesh

During the Despot War, a conflict that broke out in the Tython system in 25,805 BBY, Mahara Kesh was equipped with laser cannons to provide defense for the temple. In 25,802 BBY, Lanoree Brock, a Je'daii Journeyer, visited Mahara Kesh during her Great Journey, sometime after her brother Dalien Brock vanished while they were both studying at Anil Kesh, the Temple of Science. By 25,793 BBY, Calleh and Naro, a mated Selkath couple, jointly served as the Temple Masters of Mahara Kesh. Quan-Jang, the Temple Master of Anil Kesh, was brought to Mahara Kesh along with Xesh, a Force-sensitive off-worlder, and several other Je'daii who had assisted in Xesh's capture. The healers at Mahara Kesh began working to care for the wounded. Ten days after Xesh and the others arrived at the temple, the Je'daii Council decided to exile Xesh to the moon of Bogan so that he could restore his balance. Despite the objections of the Journeyers who had helped capture him, Rori Fenn and Hawk Ryo, Je'daii Rangers, transported Xesh from Mahara Kesh to Bogan aboard their Peacemaker-class cruiser.
