Tho Yor

In the year 36,453 BBY, the Je'daii Order's Force-sensitive forebears journeyed to Tython aboard eight colossal pyramidal ships known as Tho Yor. This event is historically recognized as the First Migration. Upon reaching Tython, these vessels dispersed across the planet, setting down their passengers at various locations where they proceeded to establish cities and temples. For countless years, the Tho Yor remained at these temple sites, some mysteriously floating, others embedded in the ground. It was only during the Force Wars that the Order's members realized the Tho Yor's potential as defensive weapons. By concentrating substantial Force energy and channeling it into the structures, they could be used to protect the planet.

History

On the planet of Ando Prime, the Order of Dai Bendu monks stumbled upon one of these ancient, immense pyramidal constructs. It lay partially buried in a snowy hollow within the Andobi Mountains. Recognizing its alien origins and sensing the profound mysteries it held within the Force, the monks christened the relic Tho Yor. The mystics dedicated themselves to contemplating and meditating on the artifact for a millennium. Finally, in 36,453 BBY, the starship opened and communicated with the Dai Bendu through the Force, inviting them aboard. Subsequently, the Tho Yor ascended from the planet and ventured into space.

After its departure from Ando Prime, this particular vessel embarked on a journey to various worlds, gathering Force-sensitive scholars, scientists, warriors, and others. Simultaneously, seven other Tho Yor undertook similar missions. One ship had been submerged in the seas of Manaan, captivating Selkath scholars and scientists with its enigmatic presence. When its doors opened, they abandoned their world and boarded. On Kashyyyk, a Tho Yor had long floated deep within the Wroshyr-tree forests, guarded by Wookiee warriors wielding clubs enhanced with glowing crystals. Hearing the Tho Yor's call, the Wookiees relinquished their weapons and entered the mysterious ship. On Dathomir, a Tho Yor rested in the world's misty valleys, concealed for an extended period. When it communicated to the Dathomiri through visions and dreams, the seers and shamans located and boarded the ship with their rancor mounts. Another Tho Yor, situated deep within the scorched deserts of Ryloth, beckoned to the Twi'leks, who emerged from their caves in search of answers to their philosophical inquiries. Boarding the ship, it also journeyed to other worlds to gather more individuals.

The Tho Yor traversed the galaxy, amassing intellectuals from diverse worlds, including Humans, Sith, Iktotchi, the Cathar, Zabrak, Miraluka, Devaronians, Noghri, Koorivar, Krevaaki, Sullustans, and numerous others.

Navigating the treacherous Deep Core, with its black holes and space-time anomalies, the eight Tho Yor converged in the year 36,453 BBY within a star system comprised of eleven uninhabited planets. They assembled above a jungle planet, the fifth from a large orange star, around a colossal Tho Yor hovering above a monolithic stone tower. As the eight Tho Yor gathered, the planet signaled their arrival with a massive Force storm: a violent display of the planet's raw Force energy manifested as lightning, earthquakes, and powerful winds. While still aboard the Tho Yor, the passengers sensed the tower and were unified as one. Soon after, the eight Tho Yor scattered across the jungle planet, settling in different regions.

Upon landing, the Tho Yor released their passengers, who set foot on the world for the first time. Within a millennium, the Force-sensitive individuals united under a code of conduct and adopted the name Je'daii Order. Remaining close to the Tho Yor, the Tythans constructed cities and temples, venerating the ships for their role in bringing them to their new home. The Je'daii established a temple at each Tho Yor site, each dedicated to a specific aspect of the Force. On the continent of Thyr, a Tho Yor rested above a vast cavern system in the Silent Desert. Within these caverns, the Je'daii founded the Temple of Qigong Kesh, a center for advanced Force skills. On nearby [Masara](/article/masara], the Tho Yor hovered along the coast above Bodhi, the Temple of the Arts. Further south, on the dangerous continent of Kato Zakar, a Tho Yor settled in the Ice Giant Range, where the Je'daii built Stav Kesh, a fortress for martial training.

One Tho Yor submerged itself in the Deep Ocean, around which the Je'daii built Mahara Kesh, the Temple of Healing. On the massive continent of Talss, several temples were built. Anil Kesh, straddling the Chasm, remained in the shadow of its orbiting Tho Yor. Similarly, at [Vur Tepe](/article/vur_tepe], the Tho Yor circled the volcano-top forges. South of there, the Tho Yor at Kaleth, the Temple of Knowledge, hovered in the sky. Padawan Kesh was built where the eighth Tho Yor settled. The largest Tho Yor, awaiting the others, remained above the tower monolith of Akar Kesh, which became the Temple of Balance.

The Tho Yor's enigmatic presence persisted throughout the Order's history, inspiring meditation on their origins and purpose. During the initial year of the Force Wars, two key discoveries emerged. The sigil on the Tho Yor's sides proved to be the key to breaching the Chasm's Chaos Wall, an invisible barrier that drove those who passed through it mad. Embedding the symbol in one's mind allowed safe passage. This barrier guarded the Prime Gate, constructed at the Chasm's bottom long before the Je'daii's arrival. Furthermore, activating the Kwa Holocron revealed the Kwa civilization's knowledge of the Tho Yor's purpose. The holocron's Gatekeeper, A'nang, demonstrated to Je'daii Tasha Ryo how to weaponize the Tho Yor as massive cannons against the Infinite Empire. The Tho Yor could fire orange energy beams from its ports, destroying Rakatan ships.

Behind the scenes

According to Jim Valby's Tibetan-English Dictionary, Tho Yor, when translated from the Tibetan language, means "pyramid of stones heaped up as votive pile, cairn".
