Tythos, a celestial body, was a star within the Tython system, situated in the Deep Core area of the galaxy. This star had eleven planets in its orbit, one of which was Tython, the originating world of the Je'daii Order, a group of mystics. From space, Tythos exhibited a yellow-orange hue. Sometime after 36,453 BBY, by more than a millennium, the settlers of Tython, who were not Force-sensitive, journeyed toward the star and established colonies on the innermost planets of the star system. Over the following millennia, Tythos was visible from Tython and Shikaakwa on multiple occasions; by 25,793 BBY, Kora Ryo, a Je'daii Temple Master, frequently meditated on Tython while observing Tythos setting.
A star in the Tython system, Tythos resided in the Deep Core of the galaxy. Eleven planets circled this star, including the hot planets Sunspot and Malterra, which were the two innermost planets orbiting Tythos in opposite directions. There was also Nox, a manufacturing world, the arid planet Krev Coeur, and Tython, where the Je'daii Order began. Important planets included Kalimahr and Shikaakwa, along with the green planet Ska Gora, the gas giants Obri and Mawr, and finally, the cold Furies Gate, the farthest planet from the star. Scientists believed that Sunspot was once a wandering planetoid that was drawn in by Tythos's gravity. Several moons also orbited the planets; Ashla and [Bogan] circled Tython, Kalimahr had three moons, Shikaakwa and Ska Gora each had one moon, and Obri and Mawr, known as "the Giants," had three and seven moons, respectively. After the settlement of the Tython system, Furies Gate gained a satellite in the form of Fury Station, a space station. Tythos appeared yellow-orange when viewed from space.
Over a millennium after 36,453 BBY, the non–Force-sensitive settlers of Tython journeyed towards Tythos, colonizing Sunspot, Malterra, Nox, and Krev Coeur. Tythos was later observed shining upon the temple of Stav Kesh on Tython at least twice over the following millennia. It was also visible from Shikaakwa and from space near Krev Coeur in 25,793 BBY. By that time, the Twi'lek Je'daii Temple Master Kora Ryo had established a routine of meditating in the temple of Kaleth while watching Tythos set. More than twenty thousand years later, Tythos was seen in space as Theron Shan, a Human spy from the Galactic Republic, departed Tython in his starship.
The initial depiction of Tythos occurred in the Tython entry within The Holonet section of the official website for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game from 2011 developed by BioWare. The star was shown in a schematic of the Tython system. Since its creation in 2008, The Old Republic's website has undergone several revisions, leading to the removal of certain features and images, including the mentioned schematic. Tythos made its first in-universe appearance in the eleventh issue of the Star Wars: The Old Republic comics series, released on October 12, 2011, and written by Alexander Freed with art by Dave Ross. The star's name was revealed in Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi 0, a preview issue of the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi comics series. This issue, written by John Ostrander and drawn by Jan Duursema, was published on February 1, 2012. Tythos also featured in the first, second, sixth, seventh, and eighth issues of the series, published on February 15, March 21, November 28, and December 19 of 2012, and February 27 of 2013, respectively. It was also mentioned in the short story Eruption by Ostrander, published in the one-hundred-forty-first issue of Star Wars Insider magazine.
