During the Galactic Civil War, a criminal organization known as the Deflarians was active on Corellia. Their name originated from their leader, who was called Deflaros.
In the year 1 ABY, a CorSec agent, Jori, betrayed the organization by providing information to the Ragtags regarding a shipment of weapons intended for the CorSec force stationed in Tyrena. The Ragtags, lacking the necessary force to carry out the theft themselves, contracted the Deflarians to seize Captain Donovan's vessel and steal the weapons. The Deflarians successfully executed the operation and took control of the ship. Subsequently, Donovan was held captive within the Deflarian bunker. To conceal their theft, the Deflarians intentionally crashed a ship of the same model as Donovan's. Following the staged crash, they intended to plant a manipulated flight recorder in the wreckage.

However, Captain Donovan was also transporting medical supplies for the merchant Sinis. Consequently, Sinis hired a spacer to investigate the crash site and recover the equipment. Unfortunately for the Deflarians, the spacer observed them in the act of placing the altered flight recorder in the wreckage. The spacer engaged the Deflarian scavengers in combat and retrieved the flight recorder. Later, one of Sinis' associates, Yorick, managed to slice the flight recorder and discovered the tampering. The spacer then launched an assault on the Deflarian Communications Post in search of information. This led the spacer to another camp where the spacer defeated a Deflarian lieutenant and his enforcers, and ultimately recovered Sinis's medical equipment. Sinis then relayed all the information he had gathered about the Deflarians to Inspector Cora of the CorSec.

As a result, Inspector Cora instructed the spacer to return to the Deflarian camp. Through a scan of the area, Cora identified a courier used by the Deflarians to transport items between their camps. The spacer tracked the courier until they reached the Deflarian bunker. The spacer infiltrated the bunker and located the imprisoned Captain Donovan. The spacer then eliminated Vinros, several Deflarian subordinates, and a Deflarian underboss to free Donovan. After Donovan revealed that his ship had been hijacked, Cora assigned spacers to attack another Deflarian camp, the location of which was provided by Donovan. During the assault, the spacers killed numerous Deflarian guards and mechanics, as well as Deflaros and his bodyguards, and successfully recovered Donovan's ship and its cargo.
Additionally, Captain [Jark] of the CorSec later identified Agent Jori as the traitor responsible for selling out Captain Donovan to the Deflarians and the Ragtags. Consequently, Jark dispatched spacers to raid a meeting between the Deflarians and the Ragtags, during which Jori was killed.
The Deflarians made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. The Deflarians were introduced to the game with the release of "Publish 28," on April 26, 2006.
