Domaz

Domaz served as the capital city for the planet of Kolatill, situated along the Trition Trade Route within the Kathol sector of the Outer Rim Territories. In 0 ABY, the Imperial governor imposed martial law, but eight years later, the inhabitants of the city revolted after hearing about the New Republic's successful liberation of Kal'Shebbol, the sector capital, and they overthrew the Imperial regime. As a consequence, the Ton-Falk-class escort carrier Kathol Protector belonging to the Empire unleashed TIE bombers to attack the city, leaving it devastated and ablaze. Survivors united to begin recovery and provide aid, with assistance from the crew of the New Republic CR90 corvette FarStar and medical ships dispatched by Governor Monjai, the New Republic administrator of Kal'Shebbol.

Description

Domaz was located on Kolatill, a planet found on the Trition Trade Route inside the Kathol sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Being the capital city of Kolatill, Domaz housed the planetary government, typically the Kolatill Council. However, from 0 ABY to 8 ABY, Imperial Governor Tetrum governed the planet on behalf of both the Galactic Empire and later the warlord Moff Kentor Sarne. The city was organized into distinct districts, including a central capital area, various residential zones, and outlying communities. A large park was the central feature of the city, which also contained at least one hospital.

History

Moff Kentor Sarne, the Imperial authority in the Kathol sector, appointed Governor Tetrum to oversee Kolatill in 0 ABY. Tetrum, acting under Sarne's orders, imposed martial law on the planet and repurposed its extensive repulsorlift industry into a war production facility to supply Sarne's forces with combat speeders. Martial law was enforced in Domaz and other settlements, the Kolatill Council was arrested, and Tetrum established his headquarters in the city. In 4 ABY, Moff Sarne broke away from the Empire to form his own warlord state, which included Kolatill.

In 8 ABY, after news spread that New Republic forces had ousted Sarne from Kal'Shebbol, the sector capital, the people of Kolatill imprisoned their Imperial governor and declared loyalty to the New Republic. The Imperial Ton-Falk-class escort carrier Kathol Protector then arrived in-system and launched TIE bombers, which assaulted the city with conventional explosives, leaving widespread destruction and fires. The Kolatill Council, reinstated after Governor Tetrum's imprisonment, sent a distress call to the New Republic forces at Kal'Shebbol. The CR90 corvette FarStar, which was in orbit around the planet, intercepted the transmission and immediately headed to Kolatill. The new New Republic Governor Monjai promised to send medical relief ships as soon as possible.

Following the attack, the large central park was converted into an emergency landing zone and aid station, filled with makeshift tents for the injured and homeless. A teenager named Lon Bennor took charge of organizing recovery efforts, distributing medical aid and care. Another citizen, Tren, managed the distribution of food to the survivors. Four days after the attack, the FarStar arrived in orbit and deployed shuttles with relief teams, bringing medical aid and supplies to assist in the recovery.

Recovery efforts in Domaz intensified, with citizens forming volunteer groups to care for the injured, coordinate rescue operations, and fight fires. Former Imperial soldiers on the planet also assisted in the relief efforts, laying down their arms and joining the volunteers. Help came from other cities via convoys carrying food and medical supplies, which required protection from wild animals and looters. At night, wild creatures entered the city to scavenge for food, forcing citizens to establish patrols and guards to protect the civilian refugee camps.

Inhabitants

Domaz was home to several notable individuals, including Councilor Kause, one of the last surviving members of the Kolatill Council; Lon Bennor, the teenager who organized medical relief efforts; and Tren, who managed the food distribution service after the attack.

Behind the scenes

Domaz was created by Bill Smith for the roleplaying adventure Omens, featured in The DarkStryder Campaign published by West End Games. Assisting with relief efforts in Domaz is one of the first tasks for players in the adventure, with several suggested encounters to test their roleplaying skills.
