As a pilot, Dorovio Bold chose to join the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Empire. Notably, she participated in the Battle over Endor, engaging the Imperial Fleet. She was among the pilots, under the leadership of Lando Calrissian, tasked with destroying the primary reactor of the Death Star II's.
Vivienne Chandler played Dorovio Bold in deleted scenes from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The footage of Chandler, which was shot during the Battle of Endor in a cockpit, implies that she was intended to be one of the pilots involved in the final assault on the Death Star and that her character would have perished when her fighter sustained critical damage to its stabilizers. This footage was eventually made available in 2013 within the digital version of The Making of Return of the Jedi.
While Bold's name wasn't mentioned in the movie, she was identified in the Star Wars Legends reference book titled Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, published on September 25, 2005. Later, her name was officially established as canon through the reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, released on April 4, 2017.
The helmet worn by Bold originally appeared as Luke Skywalker's blast shield helmet in A New Hope. This prop was later repurposed as the helmet for Darnell Reggs in the Legends video game Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire. A helmet sharing a similar design was also used by pilots Nozzo Naytaan and Attico Wred in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
