Es'Loma

Es'Loma, a female Tarasin figure, belonged to the Wyrd. This coven of Force-using witches was active on the planet of Cularin during the concluding years of the Galactic Republic. Around 31 BBY, Es'Loma journeyed to Coruscant and aided the Believers, a cult, in the theft of a Mandalorian iron container. The cultists believed the box held a powerful Sith artifact. Returning with the Believers to their secret base within Coruscant undercity, she was confronted and subdued by Jedi-aligned agents dispatched to retrieve the stolen box.

Biography

A Force-sensitive female Tarasin, Es'Loma held membership in the Wyrd, a coven comprised of Force witches who wielded the dark side. They were operating on the planet Cularin as the Galactic Republic drew to a close. In the vicinity of 31 BBY, a team of Jedi researchers on Almas uncovered the Pulas, an ancient and potent Sith artifact. The Believers, a Sith-worshipping cult active within the Cularin system, desired to steal the artifact, and Es'loma devised a plan to assist the cultists in seizing it from the Jedi Order.

To safeguard the Pulas from the Believers, the Jedi arranged for its transport to the galactic capital world of Coruscant for secure storage. The Jedi assembled a small fleet for the artifact's conveyance. Each starship in the fleet was designated to carry a Mandalorian iron box to Coruscant, with only one containing the Pulas and the others serving as decoys. Es'Loma joined the crew of a vessel in the armada, suspected by the Believers of carrying the Pulas, alongside the Wookiee Wojarra and the Human Force Adepts San Herrera and Nia Reston. The group obtained their assigned box from the Almas Academy Jedi training institution on Almas and set course for Coruscant. Es'Loma intended to aid the Believers in stealing the relic upon the ship's arrival on Coruscant, concealing her true intentions and affiliation with the Wyrd from the rest of the crew. The Mandalorian iron box aboard the ship was, in reality, a decoy, containing not the Pulas but a fragment of the dark side-imbued city of Conkesta.

Upon the Jedi fleet's arrival at Coruscant, Es'Loma's ship docked at a landing platform, where she and the crew were greeted by Nysis Belzara, a Bothan Jedi Knight who had come to escort them to a secure location. As a pre-arranged diversion, Es'Loma intentionally fell from the platform's edge, caught by a waiting speeder below. While Belzara and Es'Loma's crewmates were distracted by the Tarasin witch's staged predicament, a team of Believer thugs attacked the landing platform and stole the Mandalorian iron box.

Subsequently, the Believers retreated to their secret base within Coruscant undercity with their prize. Es'Loma joined the cultists at the hideout and went to sleep in an alcove near the entrance to the facility.

A group of Jedi-affiliated agents arrived at the Believer base, pursuing the stolen box. Awakened, Es'Loma attacked the Jedi agents, using the Force to conceal her presence as she struck. However, she and the Believers were defeated; the Mandalorian iron box was recovered by agents and subsequently escorted to the Jedi Temple, the headquarters of the Jedi Order.

Personality and traits

Es'Loma possessed an unpleasant disposition and excelled at deception, exemplified by her plan to steal the Pulas through infiltration of the vessel suspected of transporting the relic. In combat, she disliked engaging in fights where her opponents were significantly outmatched. During her journey to Coruscant with Herrera, Reston, and Wojarra, Es'Loma conveyed excitement at seeing the city-covered world.

Powers and abilities

Es'Loma was skilled in using the Force to sense her surroundings, affect the minds of others, and move objects. She also possessed knowledge of the powers Drain Knowledge, Hatred, See Force and Summon Storm. Furthermore, Es'Loma was a formidable fighter and adept climber.

Equipment

During her attempted theft of the Pulas, Es'Loma carried a concealed blaster pistol and dagger, and wore street clothes.

Behind the scenes

Es'Loma appeared in Coruscani Dawn, a roleplaying adventure by Morrie Mullins released in 2002 as part of RPGA's Living Force campaign.

In Coruscani Dawn, players role-play as the Jedi-allied agents tasked with recovering the stolen Mandalorian iron box. Player actions and decisions influence the outcomes of their encounter with Es'Loma and the Believers at the secret undercity base. If the player characters apprehend a Believer guard stationed at the entrance, Es'Loma is asleep and unprepared upon their arrival. Failure to apprehend the guard results in Es'Loma receiving advance warning and setting an ambush from the ceiling. If the player characters are significantly outmatched, Es'Loma retreats to the ceiling and departs in disgust at the poor odds. Incapacitation or death of Es'Loma is also possible during the fight. If Es'Loma is immobilized, the Believer thugs begin fleeing the base.
