Ethan Adare was a member of the Imperial Mission, an organization dedicated to the Fel Empire's "Victory Without War" initiative, and he served on the planet of Tatooine during the time of the Second Imperial Civil War. During 137 ABY, this Human encountered the Zeltron pirate Deliah Blue—who was posing as the Imperial Missionary Astraal Vao—as she was trying to find a trivalve assembly. This part was crucial for repairing her crew's ship, known as the Mynock. Following a visit to the local Imperial Mission's building, Adare supplied Blue with the trivalve assembly, even though he knew she was being dishonest about who she was. After Blue eventually revealed her actual identity, Adare assisted her in attaching the trivalve assembly to the Mynock.

Ethan Adare, a Human, was a representative of the Imperial Mission serving the Fel Empire. The Mission was created to further Emperor Roan Fel's "Victory Without War" concept in the years leading up to the Sith–Imperial War. Darth Krayt, the Dark Lord of the Sith, seized the Imperial throne from Fel in 130 ABY, which was the war's conclusion. Adare remained with the Imperial Mission as part of Krayt's Empire, and by 137 ABY he was stationed at the Imperial Mission's facility on the Outer Rim planet of Tatooine, specifically in the city of Mos Eisley.
During that year, Adare encountered Deliah Blue, a Zeltron, in Mos Eisley. Blue was pretending to be an Imperial Missionary to locate a trivalve assembly that was needed to repair her crew's ship, the Mynock. She introduced herself to Adare as "Astraal Vao" and inquired about the location of the local mission house. Adare, despite knowing that Blue was not being truthful about her identity due to a prior encounter with Vao, offered to guide her there. She claimed along the way that a farmer who had previously assisted her required a new trivalve assembly for his transport. Blue listened to Adare's opinions on the local Imperial Mission and the organization's function in the galaxy after they arrived at the mission house, but she reminded Adare that the farmer required the trivalve assembly. Adare obtained the part and accompanied Blue to Mos Eisley's spaceport.
Upon arriving at the Mynock's location in the spaceport, Blue held Adare at gunpoint, instructing the Human to hand over the trivalve assembly and leave. Adare, however, hinted at informing the local authorities and implied that death was the only way to ensure the Imperial Missionary's silence. Adare revealed to her that he knew she was not Astraal Vao when Blue became annoyed. She admitted her true identity to Adare and began to cry over the fact that her inability to install the trivalve assembly would result in the Black Sun crime syndicate finding and killing Cade Skywalker and [Jariah Syn](/article/jariah_syn], two of her friends. Adare, after hearing this, gave her the part for the Mynock, stating that she should have asked for assistance from the start. The Missionary then offered to assist in installing the trivalve assembly on the Mynock, which came as a great surprise to Blue. Blue was able to successfully repair the Mynock and depart Tatooine with Adare's help.

Ethan Adare, as an Imperial Missionary, was a believer in the organization's tenets, which were based on Emperor Roan Fel's "Victory Without War" concept. Adare thought that the Sith–Imperials would have stopped funding the Imperial Mission had Moff Konrad Rus not believed in the organization. Adare still helped Deliah Blue find a trivalve assembly, despite knowing she was lying about who she was. After she revealed her true identity and started to put herself down, the Missionary made it a point to tell her that she was not worthless and even offered to help install the trivalve assembly on the Mynock, even though Blue had held him at gunpoint just moments before. Adare had long white locs, a full beard and mustache, and brown eyes and skin.
Ethan Adare's first appearance was in the thirty-eighth edition of the Star Wars: Legacy comic book series. John Ostrander wrote the issue, Jan Duursema drew it, and it was released on July 29, 2009.
