The Imperial Mission was a society of missionaries founded by the Fel Empire. These missionaries dedicated themselves to serving others, aiming to extend influence peacefully by offering assistance to individuals and planets, particularly those suffering from poverty.
The concept of the Imperial Mission originated with Jagged Fel, who was then the Head of State of the Imperial Remnant. It was proposed as part of the Victory Without War strategy, following a suggestion made by Han Solo.
While Jagged Fel formally introduced the Imperial Mission as an element of the Victory Without War initiative, the underlying idea stemmed from a casual comment made by Han Solo. The primary objective was to propagate Imperial influence through peaceful means, specifically by providing relief to people and planets devastated by the Yuuzhan Vong War, as well as alleviating general poverty.
Shado and Astraal Vao found refuge with the Mission as young orphans. Shado eventually departed to become a Jedi, while Astraal remained and became a missionary herself.
Around 130 ABY, the Mission was under the leadership of Moff Konrad Rus. Like the other members of the Moff Council, Rus pledged his loyalty to Emperor Darth Krayt, the usurper who staged a coup to overthrow Roan Fel. This coup involved the death of Fel's decoy and a group of Imperial Knights.
In 137 ABY, Darth Talon launched an attack against Marasiah Fel, Elke Vetter, and Astraal at the Mission located on Socorro. However, Marasiah and Astraal managed to escape. By this time, thanks to Moff Rus's efforts, the Sith Empire continued to fund the Mission, enabling it to persist in its efforts to aid the galaxy's impoverished populations.
However, after Darth Wyyrlok incapacitated Darth Krayt, and initiated the Dark Lord's plan to incorporate the entire galaxy into the One Sith, he mandated that the Imperial Mission's guidelines be revised. This revision required Imperial Missionaries to propagate the Sith Code and Sith values to the general populace of the galaxy.
Following the Battle of Coruscant, which resulted in the defeat of Darth Krayt's forces, Empress Marasiah Fel officially dissolved the Imperial Mission. This decision was driven by the Mission's widespread unpopularity in the aftermath of the war and the Sith's exploitation of it.
