Farana, a planet situated within Wild Space, served as the location where the pirate Hondo Ohnaka at one time managed to take possession of the frigate known as the Acushnet along with several Flarestar-class attack shuttles. These vessels were obtained from an antiquities collector. This planet was the homeworld of a particularly aggressive creature, which the human Mosey Cimmaron and their sister engaged in hunting sometime around 9 BBY.
Farana, a terrestrial planet found in Wild Space, occupied grid square S-3 according to the Standard Galactic Grid. It functioned as the homeworld for a certain type of ferocious creature, bearing resemblance to the gorocco species native to the planet Koboh. The name Farana was also shared with the fathier known as Farana's Folly.

A collector of antiquities once had extensive holdings on Farana. On this planet, they stored a collection of starships that included six Flarestar-class attack shuttles and a Corona-class armed frigate—part of a limited production run that Haor Chall Engineering Corporation, the manufacturer, had sold to various interested parties. At some point before 21 BBY, the Weequay pirate Hondo Ohnaka stumbled upon the collector's collection of starships located on Farana. Ohnaka orchestrated a subtle raid on the collector's holdings with the intention of stealing the Corona-class frigate and the Flarestar-class attack shuttles. Subsequently, the pirate's crew caused widespread chaos across the planet, which included detonating several of the collector's other displayed vessels.
Eventually, the collector conceded to allowing Ohnaka to depart Farana with both the frigate—which Ohnaka would later christen the Acushnet—and the shuttles in his possession, while also promising not to seek revenge against the Weequay. Before departing the planet, Ohnaka then accepted an additional payment from the vessels' previous proprietor. At one point around 9 BBY, the human Mosey Cimmaron and their sister engaged in the hunting of a native Farana creature, an event that Cimmaron later recounted to the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis on Koboh.
Farana was first seen in the current Star Wars canon within the seventy-second edition of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine, which was released around May 18, 2016. The planet Farana was initially introduced within the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first referenced in the 2009 reference work titled The Essential Atlas, penned by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.
