Boz Pity, a celestial body, existed as a planet within the Boz Pity system, located in the Mid Rim region. It served as the homeworld for the sentient Gargantelle species, who were renowned due to their great size. The Hutts attempted to enslave the Gargantelles after the planet's discovery sometime before the conclusion of the Ductavis Era. After the Gargantelles successfully fought off seven invasion attempts and four diplomatic endeavors, the Hutts persuaded the Electric Caliphs from Mourn, a neighboring planet, to wipe out the species. Over the following decade, the Gargantelles were gradually exterminated, but they erected a considerable number of massive gravestones dedicated to their fallen. The planet earned the moniker "the graveyard planet" after the species vanished, inspiring people from neighboring systems to travel there to bury their deceased.
During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems utilized the planet as a strategic launch point for incursions into the Galactic Republic's territories, establishing a substantial base on its surface. In 19.43 BBY, near the war's end, Republic forces captured the planet. The Alliance to Restore the Republic established a base there shortly after the Battle of Yavin. Shortly after, the Galactic Empire discovered the base and initiated an assault on Boz Pity, but the Alliance successfully evacuated.
Between 25 and 26 ABY, the Yuuzhan Vong attacked the Boz Pity system as part of their attempt to conquer the galaxy. Between 27 and 29 ABY, New Republic forces drove them out.

Boz Pity was located in the Boz Pity system, within the Halla sector, close to the boundary between the Mid Rim and the Outer Rim Territories. The Ilosian Spur, the only nearby hyperlane, linked the Lesser Lantillian Route to Pabol Sleheyron in Hutt Space. It was in synchronous orbit with Mourn, a smoke-covered planet, around the star Cama Coll.
Boz Pity was devoid of sentient life following the demise of the indigenous Gargantelle species. The death monuments that the species erected were a prominent feature of the landscape, giving Boz Pity its moniker as "the graveyard planet." People from nearby systems would also bury their dead there. The landscape, in addition to the numerous graves, was characterized by rocky fields, sand-filled valleys, grassy fields, and mountains.
Politically, the Confederacy of Independent Systems was the only major power to truly establish a presence there. The Galactic Republic stationed some military forces there after driving out the Confederacy towards the end of the Clone Wars.
The sentient Gargantelle species considered Boz Pity their homeworld. The Hutts of Nal Hutta discovered the planet between 15,000 and 9000 BBY, and they recognized the Gargantelles as potential slaves, mostly as a result of the species' immense size. A number of missions were launched to try and enslave them—seven invasions by Niktos, followed by four diplomatic efforts by t'landa Til—but they all came to the same conclusion: the native people ate the Hutt servants. The Hutt overlords were enraged by this, so they came up with a new strategy. They would exterminate the Gargantelles rather than enslave them. A legal team of Nimbanels was dispatched to Mourn, Boz Pity's neighboring world, to enlist the aid of the Electric Caliphs, droids that were ten millennia old and had once belonged to Sultan Nastuonodon. The Nimbanels were successful in persuading the caliphs to rid Boz Pity of sentient life by playing on their feelings of obsolescence. The Gargantelles were gradually driven to extinction over the course of the following ten years. The species erected enormous monuments to their fallen, which later contributed to Boz Pity's reputation as a "graveyard planet." The caliphs went back to Mourn and set the planet's crust on fire, killing themselves, when the last Gargantelle passed away.

During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Boz Pity was taken over by the Confederacy of Independent Systems to serve as a staging area for attacks on the Galactic Republic's borders. The planet was the location of the construction of a large base, and over a hundred warships were stationed in the system. When Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi prompted a search of the system in the hopes of locating Commander Asajj Ventress, the Confederacy Commander Asajj Ventress of the Confederacy was discovered by the Republic.
In 19.43 BBY, Republic forces attacked Boz Pity. Several Jedi who had been assigned to the Outer Rim Sieges took part in the assault. An attempt was made to sneak the Intervention—a Venator-class Star Destroyer—past the Separatist fleet by having it exit hyperspace between the fleet and the planet. The plan backfired, however, and the ensuing Battle of Boz Pity proved bloody. The Intervention crash-landed on Boz Pity, where the Jedi found themselves in a land battle against forces under the command of the Confederacy leader Dooku, as well as General Grievous. Republic naval officer Denn Wessex commanded the Venator-class Redoubt in the battle over the planet. The Republic prevailed in the battle, despite suffering significant losses, but the Separatist leadership was able to leave the planet.
The Republic maintained a presence on Boz Pity following the battle. Quinlan Vos, a Jedi, relocated his force of clone troopers to the planet following the Siege of Saleucami. Planets in the area continued to transport their dead to Boz Pity following the Clone Wars.

The Alliance to Restore the Republic was compelled to move from their base on Yavin 4 in 0 ABY, following the Battle of Yavin. Boz Pity was identified as a viable location for a new base on a list created by Alderaanian Viceroy and Alliance member Bail Organa. The Alliance established a base among the ruins of the Gargantelle buildings after sending a survey team to the planet. The base would be short-lived; shortly after it was established, the Alliance's elite Renegade Squadron was tracked to the planet via an Imperial tracking beacon. The Empire quickly launched an attack on the base, sending in a sizable force of stormtroopers, several All Terrain Scout Transports, and one All Terrain Armored Transport. Renegade Squadron, however, was able to hold off the Imperial forces long enough for the Rebel Alliance to evacuate the planet during the ensuing battle. Boz Pity was under the control of Imperial warlord Treuten Teradoc's Greater Maldrood faction between 4 and 8 ABY. Between 25 and 26 ABY, the Yuuzhan Vong, an extra-galactic species, attacked the Boz Pity system. The system was under their control until New Republic forces arrived between 27 and 29 ABY.

The only sentient species that was native to Boz Pity was the Gargantelles. They were a particularly large species; individuals could grow to be twenty meters tall, and they had six arms. These traits made them desirable slaves to the Hutts. They were formidable warriors who were able to withstand nearly a dozen enslavement attempts through sheer force. One of their customs was to build extremely large gravestones for their fallen. Gargantelle skeletons covered the surface of Boz Pity after their extinction.
Boz Pity made its debut in issue #3 of the Star Wars: Obsession comic book series (2005), which was written by W. Haden Blackman. It was subsequently mentioned in several Star Wars works; perhaps most notably in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005).
The Essential Atlas (2009) greatly expanded the planet. Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, the co-authors, wanted to include profiles for every planet mentioned in Revenge of the Sith, including Boz Pity. The story of the Gargantelles was created for the Atlas, and the species' name was inspired by Gargantua and Pantagruel, a series of 16th-century novels by François Rabelais. The Electric Caliphs, an invention of Wallace's for The New Essential Guide to Droids, were tied into the history of Boz Pity.
When designing the planet for use in Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, artist Mark Harrison drew inspiration from ancient Cambodian architecture. Angkor Wat, a temple complex, was a particularly significant influence. Special consideration was given to the world's status as a "graveyard world"—concept art for Boz Pity included drawings of elaborate headstones and enormous skeletons with three faces. Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron erroneously identifies Boz Pity as an Outer Rim planet.
