The Galactic City Spaceport Hostage Crisis unfolded in 22 BBY, a mere four months following the Battle of Geonosis. During this time, terrorists seized control of the Galactic City Spaceport situated on Coruscant.
Driven to exasperation by the Republic's ongoing presence and meddling on Haruun Kal, Korunnai terrorists, led by Nuriin-Ar, took over the Galactic City Spaceport. They captured six hostages, including Mon Calamari Senator Meena Tills, her aide Vun Merett Jai, and several other civilians. The terrorists barricaded themselves within a customs clearance corridor inside the spaceport terminal. They threatened to detonate explosives—a threat deemed credible due to witnesses observing them carrying backpacks—unless their demands were met: the immediate withdrawal of the Republic from Haruun Kal affairs. The Haruun Kal government, when contacted, disavowed any knowledge of Nuriin-Ar. However, the Korunnai ambassador stated that he "fully understand[s] the group's frustrations" and publicly implored the Republic to cease its interference in Haruun Kal's internal matters.
The Coruscant Security Force established a perimeter around the spaceport, setting up security barriers under the command of CSF Lieutenant [Dovel], designated as the Incident commander. Additionally, Senate Guards under Commander Jaller Obrim were deployed due to Senator Tills' involvement. Despite the combined efforts of the CSF and the Senate Guard, the Grand Army of the Republic's Special Operations Brigade was alerted, and clone commandos from Omega Squad were dispatched to assist.

Omega Squad arrived at the scene aboard a CSF VAAT/e assault ship and immediately consulted with Commander Obrim and Lieutenant Dovel. The Senate Security Committee desired a swift resolution as a show of force, aiming to discourage future terrorist acts, especially those involving the abduction of Republic senators for ransom. However, Dovel disagreed, refusing to jeopardize the lives of the other five civilians to expedite the senator's rescue. While Omega Squad prepared to assault the spaceport to liberate the hostages, Dovel informed them that a Jedi was en route to negotiate with the terrorists. Shortly after, a Twi'lek Jedi Master named Kaim arrived, accompanied by the Senate Head of Public Affairs, Mar Rugeyan, along with Null ARC Captain N-11—"Ordo", and former Cuy'val Dar commando training sergeant, now serving as a special security advisor to the Grand Army, Kal Skirata. Omega Squad reunited with Skirata, their former trainer from Kamino, as Master Kaim decided to enter the terminal alone and unarmed to directly negotiate with the terrorists. Atin provided the Jedi Master with a strip-cam to place inside, allowing the squad and CSF officers to monitor the situation and gather intelligence should negotiations fail and direct action become necessary.
Kaim attempted to persuade the Korunnai to release their captives, arguing that mercy would garner more sympathy for their cause than violence. When it became evident that the terrorists were unwilling to yield, and the explosives strapped to each hostage were visible, Kaim proposed exchanging himself for the elderly couple from Garqi, Joz and Cira Larutur. Unfortunately, one of the terrorists discovered the strip-cam, exposing Kaim, and the Jedi Master was killed. Furthermore, when his body was ejected from the terminal, CSF officers found it booby-trapped with explosives. Before the explosives could detonate, Fi sacrificed himself, throwing himself onto the body to shield the officers. Although the bomb detonated, Fi's heavy Katarn-class commando armor protected him from serious injury, leaving him with only a likely bruise. Consequently, Captain Ordo deployed an electromagnetic pulse to disable the media holocams in the area, a tactic known as "droiding," effectively cutting off the terrorists' external view through the viewscreens within the terminal.
As Omega Squad positioned charges around the doors in preparation for an imminent assault on the spaceport terminal, Skirata focused on ensuring Fi's well-being. While conversing with Fi, he overheard Mar Rugeyan disparagingly refer to the clone commando as a "grunt." Enraged by the insult, Skirata forcefully reminded the Head of Public Affairs to refrain from such remarks and insisted that he leave the scene, allowing the clones to proceed with their mission. When the terrorists requested food and buckets for refresher facilities, Skirata volunteered to deliver the items himself. Equipped with a hearing enhancer in one ear to transmit audio back—knowing the terrorists would dismiss it as an obvious ruse—Skirata was willingly taken hostage. Inside, he engaged in seemingly innocuous conversations with the other hostages, which in reality were coded messages relaying their positions and the identity of the previously unknown sixth hostage: N'zaet Nir from Maryo.

With the terrorists identified and the hostages' approximate locations known, the time for action had arrived. Following a three-count from commando Darman, the CSF cut the power inside the terminal. Omega Squad breached the doors with entry charges, deploying flash-bang grenades to disorient the terrorists, while Ordo infiltrated through the ceiling. Fi estimated the resulting assault lasted approximately twenty seconds.
During the intense firefight, Fi nearly shot Skirata when Kal intervened to protect a hostage who had been forced to exchange clothing with a terrorist. After all four terrorists were neutralized, Skirata maintained order until an explosives officer confirmed that the packs were fake, containing comlink parts instead of explosives. Once the hostages were deemed safe, they were escorted out of the spaceport terminal.
Following the terrorists' deaths and the hostages' release, Skirata, Omega Squad, and Jaller Obrim deduced the terrorists' true objective based on the identity of the sixth hostage, N'zaet Nir. Nir was a member of the Corporate Sector Authority's Executive Directorship Board, the group responsible for managing the companies that comprised the CSA. The terrorists intended for Nir to be "accidentally" killed during the attack, leading the Republic to believe Senator Tills was the primary target. Their hope was that the political repercussions would sway the neutral Corporate Sector and its vast wealth to align with the Separatists.
The incident also fostered mutual respect between the Republic commandos and the CSF officers due to Fi's courageous act of smothering the bomb-laden body of Master Kaim, saving the lives of several officers. In the aftermath, Fi became a hero to Coruscant's police force, and Obrim considered him, his brothers in Omega Squad, and Skirata close friends in the years that followed. Omega Squad returned to Arca Company Barracks and was redeployed on another mission at 0600 hours the next day.
