Games Council
The group responsible for the oversight of the Galactic Games held on Euceron in 26 BBY was known as the Galactic Games Council, alternatively referred to as the Council of the Games.
Liviani Sarno held the position of head of the Galactic Games Council. The council also included Maxo Vista, a celebrated athlete from Euceron and a member of the Commerce Guild nominated by Sarno. Bog Divinian, another council member, was in charge of VIP skybox arrangements during the Games; unbeknownst to him, his datapad contained manipulated records of betting activity from numerous prominent senators.
Obi-Wan Kenobi uncovered the involvement of both Sarno and Vista in the manipulation of the Galactic Games (specifically, the swoop obstacle course at Stadium Five, which was pre-arranged to favor Alderaan and its senator Bail Organa with falsified "guaranteed wins"). Furthermore, the council's scheme exploited Divinian without his awareness, using him in their betting operation. Their objective was to enhance Euceron's influence and standing within the Galactic Senate by discrediting senators who opposed Commerce Guild legislation; this legislation aimed to grant the guild control over banking practices in the Core Worlds, while Vista and other controlling members amassed immense wealth through bribes made before the Senate vote. The senators were unaware that the game bets were being placed in their names, with the intention of damaging their reputations.
Obi-Wan Kenobi accused the implicated Council members, notably Maxo Vista, of the murder of Aarno Dering (the "timing judge" responsible for determining winners and also complicit in managing the fixed betting records), as the Council attempted to manipulate key events such as the bowcaster competition at Stadium Seven and the holographic obstacle course at Stadium Nine. Vista also orchestrated the sabotage of Deland Tyerell's pod, piloted by Anakin Skywalker, during an illegal Caves Podrace, hoping to cause a large number of spectator deaths and falsely attribute the blame to the Senator "bettors." Ultimately, the conspirators were acquitted due to Obi-Wan Kenobi's inability to present crucial witnesses, who were either deceased (Dering), unwilling to testify (Divinian), or had already left the planet (Fligh and Didi Oddo). Sarno and Vista refuted all accusations.
