Gatalentan tea was a specific variety of tea originating from the serene planet of Gatalenta, a world that had a reputation for its tea production. It was safe for humans to drink and was particularly enjoyed by New Republic Senator Leia Organa, who ensured she had a supply on her personal starship, the Mirrorbright. In the year 28 ABY, while traveling to the planet Bastatha aboard the Mirrorbright, Organa prepared a cup of Gatalentan tea for herself. Following their misson there, Ransolm Casterfo, Organa's companion and a fellow senator, also enjoyed a cup of the same tea.
Han Solo, the smuggler and husband of Organa, also had an appreciation for this tea, maintaining a personal stock on his starship, the Millennium Falcon. In 34 ABY, Rey, a Jedi apprentice, offered Organa a cup of Gatalentan tea while they were both aboard the Falcon. Organa, who was contemplating having some tea, gladly accepted the offer, jokingly remarking that Rey seemed to have read her thoughts. As she cooled the hot drink by blowing on it, Organa expressed her surprise that Chewbacca, Solo's co-pilot, had kept the tea on board, before realizing it was Solo's doing.
The first mention of Gatalentan tea occurred in the 2016 novel titled Bloodline, which was authored by Claudia Gray.
